Vehicle Detail

VERY RARE AZ 383 STEPSIDE POWER WAGON 4x4 All steel, Freshly Restored* Low R* Night Video on Utube 4 Speed, WARN HUBS, OPERATIONAL REDUNDANCY** Trail Defense 2 Auburn DANA 60 PosiTraction As Crockadile Dundee might say, "Now THAT'S a Truck!"**Buy it now bidder could not finalize the sale due to funds problem. After 3 months of waiting I am relisting.** At night, the multiple glowing Green Vintage Aviation style gauges and over a dozen lighted switches make you feel like you might be up in a B52 Bomber. Even the strange Aeronautical-like alarm seems to warn of a hidden mountain range: Paste in Utube for 60 Second Night Video:http://youtu.be/0N8-L7uD25I I normally restore Camaros, but I found this really cool and rare Lifelong AZ/CA Power Wagon which had been COMPLETELY rebuilt by the former Electrical Engineer owner from stem to stern. With the car, came A BOX full of receipts detailing every part he purchased for the rebuild, all itemized in an EXCEL spreadsheet totaling $28,000. There are quite literally, hundreds of entries including seals, bearings, hoses, wires, brake pads, lights, on and on.. ad infinitum. His many hours of labor were not included. With the rarity of a Factory Big Block W200 StepSide and all the mechanical upgrades already done, it seemed like a fun cosmetic restoration for me to take on. Proof is that the VIN number has been verified as an original 383 w200. The factory tag is still on the door frame showing the codes including the 383 option. Not many Power Wagon Stepsides were built and even fewer with the Big Block as it was only offered part of the year. The engine is not the original, it was replaced by a heavier, later model 413 with the forged bottom end and higher rpm/rev ability and more endurance characteristics than the 383. I need to go back to the receipt but I think there are only a thousand miles on the new engine. So now done and we have over $45,000 in receipts, all verifiable, covering 2 years of the engineer's ownership and 2 years of restoration by my team. (Cost of vehicle is not included) **Besides all the intensive mechanical rebuilding and complete upgrading of wiring and electronics, there is a REDUNDANCY you rarely see that I presume is intended to make this PowerWagon super dependable in remote areas, which can happen a lot off-roading: -3 gas tanks, separately monitored pressure and volume, gauged -2 Electric fans -2 Optima batteries on a selector switch to run either or both -2 fuel filters Mechanical Restoration/Upgrades In no way can I detail every bit of work the engineer did on the truck, so I will just list SOME of the bigger items: AUBURN Trail Rated Limited Slip Differentials Transmission Rebuilt Transfer Case Rebuilt Engine Rebuilt, Forged Bottom, Hvy duty heads/valves, low compression/High Torque Starter Rebuilt New Clutch Electronic Ignition Mallory/MSD Brake System rebuilt Wheel Cylinders Rebuilt Electric fuel pump Heavy Duty Oil Cooler 2 Electric Fans (Additional) Rebuilt suspension with Poly parts/new leaves/Shocks Multiple Gauges to monitor everything, Temps, pressures, amps Complete rewiring, lighting upgrades (Wiring Diagram with car) New Exhaust manifolds & Custom Dual Flowmaster system Rebuilt Driveline New Edelbrock AVS 650 w/ Elec Choke Edelbrock Performer Manifold Aluminum Radiator Dual Optima Batteries (on selector switch) MOPAR Performance Valve Covers and Air Cleaner Undercarriage blasted and POR 15 Coated Handbuilt Aluminum Tool Chest on wheels, mounts in bed (full of parts)LED front and rear lights Lights left on ALARM My mechanical items added in the last few months due to it not being driven:. Edelbrock Carb rebuilt Clutch Slave cyl rebuilt One new Optima battery Cosmetic Restoration, main items: Dissasembly of Front fenders, rear fenders, bumpers, doors and bed removal. Dechromed, weather stripping pulled, etc Bed sandblasted Stripped, steel lower panels in both doors installed Sanded, primed, painted with single stage PPG 1967 Dodge truck Toreador RedAluminum Tool/Storage cabinet full of new elec/fuel parts, on wheels that mounts on alum frame in the bed New western yoke seat cover New Black Carpeting with new under padding 4 new BFG All Terrain on vintage Cast Alum Mags Chrome emblems & Letters rechromed including the Grille. New Rubber and cat whiskers installed New door handles All emblems rechromed (rare pieces) Aluminum Diamond plate polished Renistalled parts with new bolts/nuts Everything realigned for best fitment =Cosmetic Result: Excellent paint and body work. No evidence of steel work or bondo anywhere. Paint is, even, deep and lustrous. Just look at the tailgate! The few that have seen the truck said "It looks NEW!" "The paint is beautiful." "Wow, it's every boy's Dream, ya know." I give it a 8.8 to 9 for a frame on restoration, good enough for local shows. (Another Wet sand and buff would improve it even more.) Engine had been removed for the rebuild so it was detailed out of the car. Undercarriage is clean, mostly detailed, no sign of abuse, rust or damage. Engine Bay is clean and detailed, Summit Racing goodies look great on that big block. What's left? Cab windows are scratched, I did take much of it out of the passenger side window by glass polishing but drivers side looks too deep so needs replaced. ($ 150.) Front and back window are ok, rear was replaced a few years ago. Mag Wheels need to be polished, I ran out of steam and I figured they will be changed by new owner. How does it drive? Starts immediately, electric choke works good, idles when warm at 600rpm. 1,000rpm when cold. Sounds pretty beefy too. Great acceleration, stops good, shifts good since slave cylinder fixed. Drives straight on the freeway, 70-80, easy, effortless... engine is a strong puller. All the many gauges work and its a whole lot of information you need out there in the boonies. Lights horn, back up lights, license plate light, signal lights, wipers etc. working. I heard a couple squeeks from the bed when I climbed off road a bit as I live up on a mountain, but then I drive a new Mercedes so I am not used to any noise at all. That first climbing gear (Granny gear) is not useful around town. I take off in 2nd, no problem. What I do like is that it is not running in 4 wheel drive unless you want it to. I have a 77 W150 Power Wagon that is full time 4WD and I would prefer the choice for freeway driving as is on this Power Wagon. This is the vehicle you want to go hunting in, plowing in, rock crawling in or swamping in; these brutish, heavy military based beasties are built for it and this one looks like its never even tried it. Talk about turning heads....I get more looks in this thing than with any of my corvettes, and I was even younger then! I am not a mechanic and frankly there are some few off-road mechanicals in this truck, I know nothing of. The information here is provided to the best of my knowledge supported by receipts, research and my personal knowledge of the recent restoration. I always prefer local buyers who can see it up close and personal. However, I have had 100% happy buyers for those buying sight unseen. I see this serious 4 wheeler maybe going to the Outback or swamp county. Someone is going to get a deal here as I don't have enough garage spaces and another project car is here. On Jan-15-14 at 07:42:00 PST, seller added the following information: Floors are original and excellent. I inspected them when the old carpet and seats were removed. There are two more shift levers inside the cab mounted in the floor one to engage the 4x4 and one to change ranges I think. Dana 60 in the rear and for locking warn hubs, Dana 44 in front. On Jan-20-14 at 09:42:09 PST, seller added the following information: Ok I sent a very detailed response to one bidder but could not get it into the description. To summarize, compression on these truck engine in two versions is 7.5 to 1. and the engineer showed it ran on reg unleaded. There are two versions with hp 265@4000rpm and a whopping 445 ft lbs of torque that's with a 2barrell carb. The other version is 238/407 at lower rpms Auburn gear is posi and either 3.08 or 3.23 limited slip. Mileage with new engine and 650cfm edelbrock is 18.5 and 11.4 in pmountainside terrain based on log and probably with 4x4 engaged in unknown range. Engine has high output oil pump and dual timing according to receipt from engine house here in phx. Check out industrial specs on 413 on the internet. Specs are based on a 2barrell, this has the Edelbrock AVS 4 barrel. On Jan-20-14 at 19:51:37 PST, seller added the following information: ASK questions. Never have I had such detail on mechanicals and electricals, than the daily log this engineer provided. For example he has drawings with degrees of the driveline angle..dates,when he installed two fuel filters, all electrical upgrades gauge by gauge. Every single part replaced such as starting with Holley two barrel then progressing into the fuel modifications and other carburetors and intake and ignition upgrades. The log is almost a training manual and shows exactly what he did to fix each and every leak, every noise in the drivetrain, every mechanical and electrical defect and anything not to spec in amps, pressure, temperature, or compression, He drew up his own electrical wiring diagram so u know how each and every upgrade is circuited. .On Apr-15-14 at 19:53:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok had a question on whether it would fit in someone's garage. It's 6ft 5in to the top of the cab.
