1986 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe This is a great looking car (medium metallic silver), drawing comments nearly every time I take it out. Over ten years, I worked on rebuilding it to near-new condition. I got through most of the car, the entire interior, a new paint job, etc, but didn’t get to the last thing – a new crate engine or LSX. Most non-engine parts (and even some of those), are near-new, generally original GM new-in-box parts. While it currently runs fine, and has been very dependable (I drive it regularly on nice days). The engine has recently had the head gaskets and oil pump replaced, as well as new hoses, gaskets, rebuilt alternator, water pump, balancer, timing gears/chain, and more. The L98 engine has cast iron heads and has seen all 137k miles but runs great. It’s strong, doesn’t burn or leak oil and gets ~25mpg on the highway. Within the last 10,000 miles: Interior – Like new: black leather seats, shift knob, boot, thick black carpet, steering wheel, dash pad, just about every switch, lock, latch, control, visors, windshield. Near new: console plates, instrumentation unit works 100%, hood latches, rear window struts. Uprated Bose AM/FM/CD. General items replaced with new-in-box: electric antenna, all suspension bushings replaced with poly bushings, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings, wheel sensors, all 6 universal joints, steering rack replaced with new tighter-turning Z51 unit, gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, door lock switches. The window regulators have been replaced with new, newer-design ones. The BOSE speaker boxes were rebuilt. I even purchased a new spare tire. The heater core has been replaced. Radiator is new. The ignition switch and keys are new. The turn signal stalk has been replaced. LT-1 tailpipes and mufflers, new pipes, FMS 24# fuel injectors and a new Cat. Recent BF Goodrich G-Force Sports all around. Edelbrock Performer IAS monotube shocks, braided steel brakelines. I handles very well and the ride is not jarring. Since the paint job, some minor scratches/scrapes have appeared in both the front and rear bumpers. I happen to have a can of leftover paint from the paint job, for touch-ups. The PROM in the car is a custom program by a famous C4 racer, Kim Baker, specifically for this setup. It is optimized for a slightly to moderately modified engine. The car dyno’d around 255hp. Runs on regular unleaded or premium. But a really nice feature is it turned the overdrive button into a manual 5th gear button – no auto-overdrive! (will include original GM PROM as well). Other mods include a Ram-Air air intake, throttle body air foil and AIR pump delete kit. I have all the original emission hoses, tubes and pump. HVAC works perfectly and the R134 air-con is ice cold. Well maintained. When I had the fluids changed in the 4+3 manual & overdrive, the fluids came out clear – no evidence of particles. The throw out bearing make a slight noise but clutch has never slipped for me. Even when very hot or driven hard, it clamps tight. Cruise control and ABS refuses to work, even through the sensors, and both relays, have been replaced – (they say it just needs resetting). The brakes however are very strong, just not anti-lock at the moment. I have a tested, working ABS unit I will include along with two car covers and factory shop repair manuals. New Battery last month. A great car, no issues, very dependable and fun to drive. Valid MA inspection sticker. Selling because I just bought a truck.
