Vehicle Detail
1968 Chevy Camaro RS, 327 cu in, 4 speed, posi-traction You are bidding on a very original 1968 Camaro RS. This car is in its original color of Tuxedo Black with the original red interior. Known HistoryI bought the car recently to drive and then restore after selling my other project car. Unfortunately, that deal fell through and now I need to sell the Camaro to finish my other project. The story told to me from the previous owner is that he bought the car in 2007 from the daughter of the original owner. The car was originally sold to the owner of a construction company in Wisconsin who ended up giving the car to his daughter. The oil change records indicate only 20,000 miles on the car in 1978, so he must not have driven it too much. The previous owner to me only drove the car a few miles per year for the last 6 years, so it is assumed the 44,800 miles are correct. Condition of this CamaroThe car runs and drives great. Starts right up, shifts smooth and tracks straight. This car came from the factory Tuxedo Black with Red interior. Sometime recently the car was repainted in the original color, but it is not a professional paint job. The previous owner said it is the original engine. The engine has a June 1967 date code, and I have read that Chevy did use some late 1967 engines in 1968 cars, so it might be original but I can't verify. Fuel gage doesn’t currently work, radio does not work and the hide away headlights open manually. Also, there is one small tear in drivers seat and a tear in the headliner behind drivers sun visor (see photos). Other than these minor issues, car runs and drives strong. The sub-frames and under side of the car are very solid. There is some rust on the lower passenger side floorboard, but overall is a very solid car. Bid now and get yourself a car that could be driven and enjoyed as is. Or, you can make to show quality with a little effort and a new coat of paint.
