Vehicle Detail
Hello and thank you for viewing the listing of my 1991 GMC Syclone. As the title reads this is a museum quality collector truck with just 1799 actual miles, it has been a beloved part of our (my father & I) collection… However the time has come to make room for a long awaited father & son project car so we need to make some room. If you are looking at this listing you are probably aware of what makes this such a special vehicle but, for those of you that may need a refresher of what a powerhouse this truck is I have included some info and links below that should be very informative on how this little truck became a legend for automotive enthusiasts around the world. Before I go into detail about this truck please understand the pictures DO NOT do this truck justice!! I am limited to only 24 images in this listing so I have tried to choose a blend that shows the truck well from all aspects. I do have a total of 78 images available upon request so please feel free to contact me directly for more detailed pictures showing every nook and cranny. As stated in the vehicle condition section of the ad this is as close to new as they come I do have some additional parts and paperwork that go with the truck that are listed below including a brand new set of 4 wheels that I was going to use for drag radials (the original wheels on the truck are mint with NO damage or delamination)… As you can guess I was talked out of doing this as a project vehicle because of the like new condition and extremely low miles… She really does deserve to be preserved as the collector vehicle she is! Contact Tony 1-920-680-7629 with any questions or to request additional photos Included in the sale of this vehicle are: 1. Original PAS Window Sticker 2. Produced in 1991, the Syclone is often looked at as the spiritual successor to the Buick GNX with equal performance at a better price tag. At the time it was introduced, the Syclone was the quickest stock pickup truck being produced in the world. Auto magazines compared its acceleration favorably to a variety of sports cars including the Corvette and in a memorable comparison test in Car and Driver magazine against a Ferrari 348TS. Featuring a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, all wheel drive, and 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, the Syclone’s specifications had more in common with a Porsche than most other pickup trucks, the Syclone sport trucks featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C 8 cm² turbocharger and Garrett water/air intercooler attached to a 4.3 L LB4 V6 engine with unique pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM Small-Block engine found in the Corvette. All Syclone’s had a specially calibraited GM 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission and the Borg Warner all wheel drive transfer case split torque with 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels for deadly fast launches on the streets. All Syclone’s featured sport modifications to the standard suspensions and the Syclone was the first production truck to ever receive a 4 wheel anti-lock braking system. Engine output was considered to be underrated at the factory numbers of 280 hp and 350 lb·ft The Syclone, when new, was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds rain or shine and could do a quarter-mile run in 13.6 seconds at 93 mph according to Car & Driver's comparison test, however Sport Truck Magazine was able to record a 13 flat besting the previous top turbo legend the Buick GNX. In 1991 Syclones were available in black only. 1992 models were to be offered in a wider range of colors before they were canceled… rumors of the performance besting that of the Corvette have often been mentioned regarding the ended production of this sinister little truck and with just 2995 Syclones built in 1991, and 3 in 1992 the Syclone is truly a rare piece of American automotive history!! Typhoon, and Sonoma GT were also built for GMC by Production Automotive Services (PAS) of Troy, Michigan and sold directly through GMC dealerships through 1993 after Syclone production ceased.
