Vehicle Detail
After 24 years of ownership it is time to part with my beloved 1986 Toyota 4x4 Xtra Cab Deluxe pickup. I purchased this truck in February of 1990 from the original owners, a retired couple that pulled it behind their RV (still has the front towing set up in tact). It had 34,000 miles on it most of which were tow miles and now has approximately 190,000 miles. The truck was originally purchased in California but has spent its entire life in Tucson, Arizona. I have taken EXCELLENT care of it and have changed the oil religiously every 2500 miles. I have never driven this truck hard and have rarely used the 4 wheel drive and only when necessary. The truck is almost completely original. It has never had any paint or body work done, not even a fender bender. The paint is pretty good but has faded over time due to sun exposure and is down to the primer in some spots, especially on the roof. The body is super straight and being an Arizona vehicle of course there is zero rust. The interior is in amazing condition and is all original except for the shifter boots and their plastic housing which I replaced recently with an OEM that I was told by Toyota was the last one available in the country. The dashboard has one crack in it even though it has had a dashboard cover since new. Headliner is perfect. Truck has never been smoked in. Has an aftermarket cruise control that currently is not working. The cloak still works! I had the transmission rebuilt by master Toyota technician Bill Lee at about 142,000. Of course at the same time it had a new clutch assembly installed. Only Toyota parts were used and it shifts perfect. I just had the truck gone through by a reputable Toyota specialty shop. The truck runs good now but some things will need to be addressed at some point especially if you want the truck to be in tip top running shape. These include: *Timing chain has never been replaced and should be done. *Clutch master cylinder is leaking (been like this for awhile I just fill occasionally). *Ball Joints have some play. *Both side outer C.V. joints are torn. *Shocks could be replaced (I believe the truck still has the originals) *Air conditioning works but needs recharged occasionally so I'm guessing a slight leak somewhere. Worked all last summer but currently does not. *I just had the Idler Arm replaced *Brakes pads are in good shape (25% front & 80% rear remaining) *Michelin X-Radial LT Tires have over 50% usable tread remaining The truck comes with the matching fiberglass camper shell and slide in carpeted bed insert with side storage compartments. I was a teacher and spent my summers camping all over the west in this truck and slept in the back countless times. It is surprisingly comfortable. This has been a GREAT truck and I have owned it for so long that it is difficult to part with, but I am retired now and need something a little more comfortable to travel in. If you know about these trucks then you know they have a following and are getting harder to find especially in this condtion. So if you have been specifically looking for one of these to fix up the way you want, you would be hard pressed to find an all original one that was better cared for with a nicer interior and straighter rust free body. Also includes the original Toyota tool bag, owner's manual, and every service record since new. Selling truck as is. Please email me with any questions.
