In the early-1990s sport-trucks were becoming more popular throughout Chevy and Ford's lineups, leaving Dodge behind. This lasted until 1997 when Dodge Introduced the Ram 1500 SS/T, which stood for Super Sport Truck. The Ram SS/T had a 5.9-liter, V-8 engine in both 1997 and 1998. In 1997, the 5.9-liter produced 235 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 330 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,000 rpm. The engine received a boost in 1998 to 245 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 335 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,200 rpm. The SS/T had only one available transmission: a four-speed automatic. Being a sport-truck meant that Dodge tuned the SS/T for high-performance. The 1997 SS/T Ram accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in nine seconds and slowed from 60 to 0 mph in 148 feet. In 1998 the SS/T performed a little better, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 8.8 seconds, but the braking distance increased 1 foot to 149 feet The 1997 and 1998 Ram SS/T had 40.2 inches of front headroom, 65.6 inches of front hip room, 66 inches of front shoulder room and 41 inches of front legroom. It also had seating for up to three people. The exterior dimensions of the SS/T remained the same between 1997 and 1998, with exception of the curb weight. The SS/T was 204.1 inches long, 79.4 inches wide, 71.9 inches high. It had a wheelbase of 118.7 inches and 7.6 inches of ground clearance. The 1997 had a curb weight of 4,216 lbs., while the 1998 was 4,242 lbs. Up for sale is my 1998 Dodge Ram SS/T. I can't believe that I am selling this truck so I am just going to list it before I change my mind. I have owned this truck since 2000 and have taken better care of the truck than I have myself. You see the pictures and this truck is in unbelievable condition. This truck is the Super Sport Truck and is the last year this style was made. It has a 5.9l engine and I have installed a K&N cold air intake on the engine and I have a 3" swept side Gibson exhaust with a Flowtech muffler. This truck sounds amazing and gets tons of attention. I also have a specially made Hypertech Power Programmer on the truck. Hypertech sent me a blank module to download the trucks computer program into. I then sent that to them and they specially designed the programmer for this truck. I have a Viper 550 alarm system on this truck that protects all entrances, has keyless entry, parking light flash, dome light supervision, and remote start. The dash was custom cut and fiberglassed to now house a double din navigation unit. The dash was painted with black texture paint to match. There is an Alpine INA-W900BT indash navigation, AM-FM CD/DVD, ipod, Bluetooth unit in the dash. I have customized the doors to house 2 pair of Boston Acoustics Pro Series 650 6.5" mid bass drivers and 1 pair of Boston Acoustics Pro tweeters. I custom built the sub enclosure behind the seats to house 2 flush mounted Boston Acoustics G2 10" subs and the 2 Sony XM-1002 amplifiers. I left room for the 2 storage containers on top of the box for storing CD's etc. There is over $4000 in stereo and alarm. All seats in the truck are in great condition as seen in pictures. I have kept seat covers on them most of the trucks life. It has been lowered 2" in the front and 4" in the rear to give a much more stable ride. The truck has been painted several years back and the paint is starting to oxidize on the hood and roof. This could probably be corrected if it was cut and buffed but I'm not good with paint and don't want to attempt it myself. After the paint I liked how it looked and chose not to put the stripes back on the truck. If you want the stripes then there are several places you can purchase the factory style SS/T stripes and have them put on. As with all Dodge Ram's in this year range the dash cracked and has been replaced with a new dash direct from Dodge. The 4 Goodyear tires on this truck are in great condition. The brakes, transmission, engine, all headlights, brake lights, dash lights and everything with the truck works. No oil leaks, no transmission leaks, no rear end leaks. I have had the oil changed every 3000 miles for the life I have owned the truck. I have had the rear end fluid changed multiple time along with the transmission fluid. Everything is sound and I would drive this truck anywhere and jam while I was on my way. Truck can be picked up or your shipping company pick it up after my payment has been received.
