Vehicle Detail
Overall: Parents - this is THE car you have been looking for for your teenager. Smoke free, clean car. And VOLVO SAFE. Very low miles and also very good condition on this 2001 Volvo S80 2.9. See photos. I am only selling it because we no longer need it due to recently buying a new Ford for my teenage son. If you are looking for that turn-key, economical, and very safe used car that has been carefully maintained and is ready to drive as is, then this is the right car for you. I have clear title. Performance: Car starts and drives smoothly. Every time. Handles well with no pulling to either side. AC blows cold. Heat is perfect. All electronics work. Excellent braking with no lateral pull. VA state inspection is current. It is a sweet and comfortable ride. You are welcome to come to my house and take it on a test drive if you like. Mechanical: Engine strong and quiet. Front brakes have only 10K miles usage on them, rear brakes are nearly new with fresh rotors (have the service receipts to prove and will provide them). Tires are 70K Sumitomo Tour Plus, bought in Sep 2012 at 93K miles so lots of life left in them. Timing belt was changed at 79K miles. No leaks at all. All fluids changed out at 93K miles. Other recent services (all routine): at 92K--fuel induction cleaning, new plugs/tune up, throttle body and gasket, new engine mount; and at 103K--new fuel filter and cabin air filter. I have two keys and one fob. Only possible future issue I can foresee is the passenger side front power window is moving slowly so this may indicate future service will be needed on it (or just leave it up). Car History: I bought it for my teenager from a dealer in May 2012. I was aware from the Carfax that the car had been in some sort of an accident in April 2010, but from the repair work that had been done on it, it was impossible to see any signs of damage. In fact, the car looks fantastic and drives exceptionally well so clearly whatever damage there was in 2010 was professionally repaired at that time. In Sep 2012, someone backed into the doors on one side and creased the sheet metal but that was also professionally repaired and looks virtually new now. I have the invoice for the 2012 body work, but not the 2010 repairs. Seller (me!): Model eBayer Check my 100% rating. I have sold some of my cars on eBay in the past and never had an unhappy buyer. You won't be unhappy either. I lay it all out there and tell you everything I know about the car, good and bad. I never have put my integrity at risk and never will. I am also perfectly amenable to you taking it to a repair shop to have it evaluated for yourself. DO NOT BID ON THIS CAR UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO BUY IT! I am re-listing this vehicle after a successful auction last week in which the winning bidder decided not to buy the car in the end. I put up with it that time because he covered my listing fees, but I will not do so again. REPEAT: Bid ONLY if you are sincere and will follow-through if you are the winner. On Jan-18-14 at 09:34:13 PST, seller added the following information: 18 Jan 2014 - I have received some questions on why the previous winning bidder opted to not buy the car. The reason is that he lived in Georgia, and found a car locally to buy for his spouse AFTER he had placed a bid that was high enough to meet my reserve price (and exposed it) making it a binding bid. This was with a week to go before auction close. He asked me to cancel his bid, but doing so then would have blown the whole auction because all the other bidders would not be obligated to uphold their bids, having already been informed they had been outbid by him! So I told him I would expect him to honor his bid, but I reassured him that with a week left to run in the auction, he was likely to be outbid anyway. On the last day of the auction, others bid on the car as I predicted, but he had set an even higher maximum bid price and eventually wound up winning the auction. He then refused to buy the car, but offered to pay me back for my listing fees. I accepted the fees as compensation. So he never came to look at the car. His reason for not buying it was simply that he had found a car locally in GA and would not buy my car despite his bidding on it. This is what happened. So rest assured his reneging on his bid was unrelated to the car itself. He was just an irresponsible bidder.
