Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful, well cared for, 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car, with the extremely rare factory Fixed Glass Moonroof option. There were only approximately 1,500 made in 1979 with this option. Mine was owned for the last 25+ years by an older gentleman, James, and this was his 'Dream Car', as the monogrammed dash protector indicates. Metallic blue with white padded coach top, and plush Kashmir Velour interior, which was an extra option. This car has all conceivable options offered in 1979, including factory CB radio for extra safety on the road. In fact, short of the "Collector Series" insignia on the side, this car has every option offered in 1979, and I think looks better than the Collector Series, which did not have the rear opera windows. This is also a Lincoln Continental "Town Car". In the seventies, the "Town Car" was not the model, it was a trim level which designated the top of the line for the model. Not every Continental was a Town Car, but all Town Cars were Continentals. This is the last year for the big Lincolns, and this was the largest production car in the world in 1979. This car looks and runs great. I purchased it after the previous owner passed away, and his wife offered it for sale. The next day, I drove this classic land yacht over the Rockies, the Sierras, and back home to Denver across both mountain ranges. The ride was incredibly smooth and she performed without hesitation or incident. In other words, she drives smooth and strong and crossed the highest points in North America without a problem. I only purchased her for this road trip, which is now complete. But since this was the 'Dream Car' of the prior owner, I feel a responsible to be the caretaker of this car. So while I am now selling it, and everything is factory original to the best of my knowledge, I have added to the care and love of this classic by putting on new tires, new shocks, new catalytic converter, new starter and recent oil change & engine servicing. I could have passed on the expense for these, but would like to send this unique car to its next owner in the best condition possible. The interior is in excellent condition, and the exterior is in good condition. The car is 34 years old, and garaged, and the paint is original so there is some oxidation on the hood which I suspect could be buffed out, and a few minor chips in the paint. But you can see from the pictures that she is in all around good shape, no dents, scrapes, etc. Everything is factory original and in working condition with the exception of the power door locks, which are a little slow, but likely just need an adjustment. Power windows, seats, antenna, stereo, cruise control, heat, A/C, etc. - all work. My friends have been encouraging me to keep this car, but I have two others and I really don't need three. If you're looking for a 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car, this is a nice one, and I suspect you'll find precious few in this condition, and next to none with the rare factory fixed glass moonroof. I would love to find a good and caring home for this classic gem. 1979 Lincoln Continental Town Car -Power Windows -Power Doorlocks -Power Antenna -Power Seats -AM/FM/Cassette Stereo -CB Radio -Full working A/C, Heat, Defrost -Plush Kashmir Velour Interior -Extremely Rare Factory Glass Moonroof -Carpeted Trunk -Car Cover -All options available in 1979
