Fun custom rust-free 1957 Isetta 300 in good running and driving condition! Rakes in the wins at the car shows - always a crowd favorite and turns heads no matter where you go. It was restored by the previous owner to match a 1950's Ford to take to the car shows. They would tow it behind the Ford - imagine the looks! The previous owner went over the car from top to bottom in a frame-off restoration: engine rebuild, complete custom interior, replaced the original sunroof with a leak-proof one (it opens), added bubble insulation, paint job, etc. From what I can tell, all of the body rubber was new. Since we have had the car we have had the carb rebuilt by Bing, replaced the battery, added an easy battery maintenance system (battery is under the seat and isn’t a lot of fun to get to – charger comes with it), installed an original-type coil and replaced the petcock (which had been leaking, as they usually do). The B.F. Goodrich Silvertown tires have good tread. Everything works, from headlights, wiper and turn signals to choke and defroster. As it *is* almost 57 years old, I cannot guarantee everything will work fine at any point in the future, but it has been reliable the 6 or so years we have had it. The car has a custom exhaust, which works and sounds fine, but an original type exhaust will come with the car in case you want to switch back. I do not know the original mileage on the car, or since the rebuild, but I have not put much on it since we have had it, probably well less than 50 miles. It looks like it says 18,673, but I do not know if that is correct. I basically put it on a trailer and drive it to shows (the roads here are unsafe for this kind of car). Specifications from BMW: 1-cylinder 298cc air-cooled engine 4-speed transmission with reverse Top speed: 53 mph Fuel consumption: 63 mpg Cruising range: 29 miles Length: 89.8" Width: 54.3" Height: 52.6" Track: Front - 47.2" Rear - 20.4" Wheelbase: 58" Fuel capacity: 3.4 US gal. Unladen weight: 770 lbs Laden weight: 1,277 lbs The car is in good overall condition and needs nothing to drive and take to shows except a little more cleaning. I was more interested in taking it out and enjoying it than polishing crevices of the frame with a Q-tip. The not-so-great things: - If you are picky about show quality, the car will need a headliner. The one in it was not done well - they used sheet vinyl and it’s not fitted well. The vinyl job on the inside of the front door isn’t the absolute best either. It has some wrinkles, but nothing crazy. - The paint job is not perfect but is strong and shiny. It is a little light on the outside edges of the front door and the inside of the engine cover has a major run. There is another little blip or two, but overall it looks very nice. - The hubcaps are not perfect but are original. - I may not be the best sideways shifter, but more likely the shifter may need a little adjusting. You can access all the gears, but sometimes it’s a little challenging to find them. It might be me. I am not sure. - The vinyl wall covering around the shifter needs some attention – looks like some trim is needed, but I hadn’t found anything I really liked to go there, so it’s now up to you. - The windows show normal wear/light scratching. - The buffer strip between the passenger-side windows keeps falling off. I really don't see a need for it there, but it is included. - The tint on the rear window has a wrinkle in the bottom middle. I’m not a tint expert, so I just left it alone. - The wiper blade needs replacing. - The body is not perfect – there are a couple areas along the bottom that aren’t straight (some minor defects along rear edge above bumper in a couple spots and on the left side). - The previous owner removed the fuel filter bowl. We tried reinstalling it but could not find any way to keep it from leaking, so took it off again. It will come with the car. - The engine shroud seal is not installed. The metal piece needs cleaning and painting. A new seal is included. - Some of the chrome (namely the taillight rings and rear bumperette rosettes) is original and is pitted. There may be a few other minor things that I have overlooked. Please look at the pictures and feel free to ask questions. If you use the Buy-It-Now option, we will include a 5'x8' single-axle ramp trailer with metal floor and straps. The trailer has new tires and wheels and a recent axle and hitch replacement. It takes a 2" ball. Otherwise, the trailer is available for $400 if you purchase the car. I am not interested in comments from Isetta purists ragging on me for the customization of this car. It's my car. I bought it this way and I like it. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. Or you can buy it and make it the way you want it. 'Nuff said. This car is almost 60 years old. It is sold in AS-IS condition. It works, runs and drives well right now, but I can not guarantee its behavior in the future. If you have questions about it, please ask. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required through PayPal within 24 hours of auction’s end, with the rest payable by cashier’s check or money order within seven days after auction’s end. If you have fewer than 10 positive feedbacks, you MUST contact me before bidding, or your bid may be removed. Buyer will need to arrange for transportation (I reeeeally don’t recommend driving it home unless you live in town, but you could if you reeeeally wanted to. Remember, top speed is what? 53 mph.) We may be able to assist with transportation around the Kentucky area, depending on where it is going, for a fee (usually the IRS mileage rate plus food/lodging if necessary). Please arrange this with us in advance. View Raw Image" height="525" width="700"> Since the below picture was taken we have replaced the leaky fuel petcock with a correct original one. My two favorite trophies I have won with this car. The Aaron's metal one is deadly sharp! :) On Dec-02-13 at 17:34:55 PST, seller added the following information: On Dec-12-13 at 05:51:48 PST, seller added the following information: This vehicle is for sale locally and we reserve the right to close the auction before it ends if it sells through that channel.
