Vehicle Detail
On Nov-28-13 at 09:14:32 PST, seller added the following information: There have been a lot of questions about this vehicle. I am editing my auction to be fair for everyone. The following answered most questions, but, feel free to ask if I fail to answer anything... There is no reserve on this auction. Whatever it sells for is what it sells for. The transmission was good...that alone is worth $400+. Untouched body panels on this car would sell for $100 each ...that's another $600. Engine is an unknown because it was starting to burn a little oil. My experience with engines over 150K miles is that as long as you are driving them everyday (...and we were driving this car every day with no problems) a high mileage engine will run fine. However, when a car sits without being run it might not start as easily as when you are driving it every day. The battery on this car was dead from the tow driver leaving the flashers on after the accident so I have not attempted to restart this car. However, the engine was clearly running unless someone is suggesting that I ran behind the car and pushed it up to 20 mph to cause the accident in the middle of a 4-lane 60mph highway. I am listing this car as a parts car. ...But it was definitely running during the accident so it can at least be rebuilt if needed...that's another $200-$500. A simple compression test will tell you that. The two sets of wheels will get you at least $200 a set...that's another $400. Even though this car was hit in the front, not a drop of coolant dripped out of the car. The radiator is fine and most of the plastic parts up front are untouched. Various interior and engine compartment parts and pieces would add up to more than $700 depending on how far you parted it out before selling the rest to the junk yard for $100. Adding all this up...we are at around $2200, minimum value as a parts car. This car would easily double someone's money if you can get it for under $1500. The car is worth more for parts then it is as a whole. KBB value for a fair car like this is between $2500 - $2900. The estimate I got to repair this car was $4900. If someone bought this car as a project and worked on it themselves, I would expect they could put this back together for around $1800. While I do have a lot of experience on stuff like this and my assessments are my true beliefs, the buyer is advised to use their own judgement. The buyer assumes all responsibility once purchased. Feel free to come and look at the car if you are local enough to do so. This car is probably best put to use as a parts car. I just could not bring myself to take it apart. I don't have a lot of time. If it doesn't sell here, it will sit until next summer and I'll take it apart myself. Good Luck and thanks for your interest. On Nov-30-13 at 21:01:04 PST, seller added the following information: I did forget to mention ...not that it matters ...I just installed a new headliner in the car. It is an amateur job but looks a heck of a lot better than the original liner which was coming loose before I fixed it. Also, I put new rear rotors and rear brakes on the car just before the accident. If the car hits $700, I'll include a set of new front brake pads that I never got around to putting on the car ...new still in the box.
