Vehicle Detail

1991 Dodge W250 4x4 With Intercooled Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine I purchased this truck from a Dodge dealer in early 1993. It had only 7050 miles at that time. This truck was always garaged while I had it. It has never had a snow plow and has never had a tow hitch. It has been driven in the snow a few times, but typically we just used our other 4 wheel drive vehicles. The truck was never taken mudding etc, but has been used on mountain roads etc. I put a bed liner in it immediately after buying it. Covered up scratches on the bed before doing that. Also sprayed the undercarriage with anti-rust protective coating right after getting it, minimal surface rust on the frame and chassis Oil was always changed with Rotella. This is the only diesel engine I have ever had where the oil doesn't get sooty. I just went over the truck this past summer greasing, checked differential and transfer case fluids, rotated the tires front to rear, etc. The tires have been replaced once, they are like new. Throttle position sensor was changed. Warranty recall replacement of the injection pump. I had all hoses, including heater hoses, replaced some years back. Differential fluids were changed then too, you can see that the cases were opened. Tail pipe rusted off at the muffler a few years ago, replaced it welding a sleeve into the muffler. We are not smokers, no car seat was ever in this truck (our daughter is twenty plus years past car seat age), and sadly I have never had a dog that could ride along with me. Original paint. A couple small chips and scratches. A bit of paint flaking off one corner of the tailgate. I did bang in the passenger side rocker panel on a snow bank about fifteen years ago, it was professionally repaired by a Mercedes dealer body shop. Air-conditioning works well, but it is a lot more fun to roll down the windows and fold out the vents. Spare NOS serpentine belt behind the seat. Service manual for truck and diesel engine. This truck gets about 21 MPG whether empty or fully loaded, significantly better than my '08 Dodge CTD daily driver. Only problems that I know of: The anti-lock and brake light will come on sometimes, checked the vacuum last time this happened and was fine. Braking fine too. May be the sensor on the firewall. The head liner has sagged and needs to be glued back up. Fuel tank gauge is sometimes erratic, probably a connector, or maybe it's just waterlogged due to age. The steering has play in it. I have the replacement Borgeson assembly, just never got around to putting it on. And I did plug up a fuel filter this past winter, which I replaced and then highway tested afterward. (I pumped out the tank when that happened, all the fuel was perfectly clean.) Oh, and if you are a Cummins 5.9 diesel fan you will probably want to know if I did the “killer dowel pin” prevention mod. I have been meaning to, but have not. I have owned over a dozen different diesel passenger vehicles as well as diesel tractors, generators, and bulldozers. Have taken diesel mechanics night school. I can assure you this truck is in excellent shape. We have sold three diesel vehicles on eBay, a Mercedes, a Chevy Suburban, and an Isuzu trooper. New owners have always appreciated the condition the vehicles were in when they saw them for the first time, and how honest we were with the description. We even got a thank you note a year later from one of the buyers! This 1991 Dodge is a head turner. Any red blooded man that sees it says “wow”. The only reason I am parting with this truck is because we are selling our house with a garage, and it would be a tragedy to store it in our barn or outside under a tarp. Please email with any questions. Thanks for looking! On Nov-11-13 at 17:11:05 PST, seller added the following information: FYI, a very observant bidder asked whether the pictures were current, as the license plates have "02" stickers on them. That is actually about when NJ stopped issuing stickers, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_New_Jersey The pictures were all taken this past Saturday, November 9th. (No longer any inspection requirement for this vintage truck in NJ, so no window sticker for that either.)
