Vehicle Detail
History: I bought this Lincoln Mark VII LSC from a gentleman in his 90's who could no longer drive. He was the second owner and he bought it in July of 1993 from the first owner with 22,362 miles. It now has only 51,843 miles and I am the third owner. I had planned on giving this car a little TLC to make it perfect but now that my wife is pregnant with twins we are moving to a bigger house with a smaller garage. My Auction: I will attempt to describe this fine automobile to the best of my ability. All used cars have flaws, especially 22 year old ones so please be realistic in your expectations. I will point out anything that stands out or that you can't see in the pictures as I believe anyone who doesn't isn't being thorough with their auction. Please ask all questions BEFORE you bid. Please view the link to over 100 additional pictures I have posted on flickr.com before you bid, some of them have captions and I want you to know exactly what you are getting. Please read my entire auction carefully BEFORE you bid. Also please be respectful of my auction, these cost real money that I have to work hard for just like you do. Please make sure you have the money in place BEFORE you bid and that you have asked you significant other or whoever you need permission from to purchase an automobile before you bid. I will not cancel your bid for any reason or excuse you give me so if you are one of those guys please don't bid on my auction. I will not be revealing the reserve price. Thanks and good luck bidding! Link to over 100 pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/106001207@N06/ If you click on the individual photos they will get larger. Next click on the diagonal arrows icon that is second from the right. This will supersize the pictures and you can now use the left and right arrows on either side of the screen to scroll through the pictures. Also before you supersize the photos scroll through them and you can see the captions this way. Exterior Condition: This Mark VII LSC is absolutely stunning in Black over tan with a black Simcon top, it is the best color combination this car comes in. The paint shines like a mirror and is as smooth as glass. The paint has that soft feel when you run your hands over it just like a new car in the showroom. At some point the car was repainted and I would say it is a very nice paint job overall. It doesn't have the orange peel that all factory paint jobs do but it does have a few minor flaws. There are no dents in the car or really scratches worth mentioning but the car has it fair share of minor chips. The Simcon top is in beautiful condition with no splits or seam separation. There are no chips or cracks in any of the glass windows or plastic lenses. The headlights are clear. The chrome is very shiny, infact it is the best I have seen on one of these older Marks. The clearcoat has peeled off of the lips of the wheels but I found that if you sand these wheels clean you can polish those lips and make them look like chrome. All of the rubber weatherstrip is in excellent shape except the dew wipes on the windows. Those have some cracks. Some of the chrome around the windows where about half is painted black and the other half is chrome have the black part peeling off. The car has new tires that are matching Goodyear Eagle LS's. The only thing that can reasonably be faulted on the exterior is the chrome around the drivers side rear wheel well is dented. I took it off and checked the body underneath and amazingly there is no damage to the body here. I point to the damaged chrome in one of the pictures. Overall the exterior looks terrific and even the limited amount I have driven this car I have noticed people go nuts for it. It is definitely a head turner! Interior Condition: The interior of this LSC looks good but not great. My plan was to redye the leather. I have done this before with a couple of my other collector cars with amazing results. I get the dye from a company called Leatherique. Check out their website. Overall the seats are in pretty good shape but there is a process to take out all the cracks and even repair the small hole on the drivers seat bolster. It really revives the color too. The leather in this car can be made to look brand new for just over 100 bucks and anyone can do it if I can. Other then that the interior also has its fair share of knicks and knacks on various parts of trim. The headliner is clean and tear free but it is just starting to sag in a couple areas. The cloth covering the seat belt mechanism on the rear seat passenger side has a few cuts. I point to it in one of the photos. The carpets are clean with an original set of floor mats and the car has never been smoked in. The dash does not have any cracks and there are no broken or missing parts on the interior. The trunk is clean and the engine is fully detailed. Mechanically: This Lincoln runs and drives great! It does however have an intermittent problem with the brakes. Sometimes when you are driving the brakes work normally just like they are supposed to. Then all of a sudden the brake warning light and the ABS warning light will come on and the brake pedal will become really hard and it takes a lot of pedal effort to stop the car. Then later the lights may go off again and the brakes go back to working normally. I don't know what the problem is but this prevents you from driving the car home. It will need to be towed. It can be driven onto a car hauler or auto transport however. You have to fix this problem before you can safely drive the car. It drives beautifully otherwise. When the brakes do work they have a nice feel to them. The car tracks straight and true down the road. The transmission shifts as it should and the car is very fast. It also rides very nice and the air suspension WORKS PROPERLY! This is very important when considering a used Mark VII. The air suspension does not leak at all. I have gone two weeks without starting the car and the suspension has not sunk a millimeter. The air conditioning blows ICE COLD and there is a sticker under the hood indicating that it was converted to R134a refrigerant. The heat works too. There is a tape stuck in the tape player so I don't know if the radio works. All of the buttons and switches work on the interior. The power windows both work great which is good because that is a common Mark VII problem. The drivers door can't be unlocked from the key from the outside but all other locking and unlocking functions work as they should. There are no other warning lights on the dash other then the above mentioned intermittent brake lights coming on. The tachometer is stuck all the way to the right (this happened after I took the pictures). The muffler has a hole in it so the car is louder then normal but not super loud. I am a little embarrassed to admit that for a middle aged guy I like the rumble of the exhaust the car has now, it sounds really cool! Summary: This car only has 51K miles!!! It needs a little TLC so as a result I feel like I am giving away this low mileage beauty. You only need to fix the brakes to drive it and the other stuff you can do as you go or just leave it and drive the car as-is. Just as a precaution I would check over the rest of the car before driving it long distances as it has sat awhile before I bought it and I have not driven it much either.
