I am offering for sale my 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible. I am the third owner of this car. These cars were hand built by 2 man SVT teams off the main Ford assembly line. She is a fantastic vehicle with immense power and great handling. She has lived all her life in SC so no rust or cancer from road salt. She is UNMOLESTED and has been adult owned and driven. With the exception of a K&N open air filter, billet aluminum fuel door, and replacement headlight capsules the car is 100% oem. I have the original gas filler door, the original headlamp capsules, and the original air filter box and these will go with the vehicle upon sale to the new owner. I have the original owners manuals and books for her also.I am now going to describe in great detail all I am aware of in my car as follows....... Within the last 3 months she has had 4 wheel brakes, fresh full synthetic oil change, a new water pump, fresh antifreeze, and a new serpentine drive belt and tensioners. The instrument cluster speedo gears were replaced so the odometer and trip gauge would work (a common problem with all these cars - plastic gears wore out from the grease put on them) All 4 tires were balanced. Wires and plugs were changed. She still has the SVT plate on the R/S rocker cover detailing the 2 builders of the car. The tires are fair but should easily have close to one more season in them depending on how many miles one drives. The car is driven daily and has been all her life. The paint is original and shines very nicely when waxed. There are some MINOR shopping cart dings but she has never been in any accidents. Clutch was replaced 40K ago, as well as master and slave clutch cylinders.The top is 6 years old and in good shape, mostly having some dark spots above the rear window from sitting under trees, but not very bad and of course NO leaks. No leaks in the trunk either. The front and rear bumpers have some clear coat peel in the grooves of the top areas but again, not too much and not too bad. You can see it in the pics.The top goes up and down properly. The driver seat has tears in the leather on the left wing and right back and is the worst part of the interior, but the seat is power and it does work. Radio and cassette work, but the cd player does not and the volume has to be raised pretty high to listen while driving. Passenger side mirror outer plastic base was cracked and repaired - the mirror glass is fine and it stays in place. All power windows work. Power locks work. AC does not work - compressor / clutch went bad. However, heat, defrost, all dash operations works properly and I enjoy the roof down most of the year anyway. She has her little quirks too - wipers work but at times you have to wiggle the switch lever. Every so ofter a "low oil" light will light up for a few minutes and then go out just as fast as it came on - I do see some oil seepage under the L/F of the engine where the sensor should be located according to the manual and believe that the sensor may be leaking, causing the false light so it would need to be changed. Of course all fluids are checked by me regularly to ensure they are fine..All in all she is a great running and driving car. Exhaust is original, and again, this car was NEVER abused or molested / modified aside from what was mentioned above. She has her few quirks, squeaks and rattles but she is 17.5 years old and this is to be expected. She can be driven just as she is just keeping up with normal maintenance, or can be taken off the road and refitted / restored to full original - buyers choice. It was a dream to finally get a Cobra and I hate to sell her but I can no longer drive a stick easily and so it is time for an automatic transmission vehicle. I have described her as honestly and completely as is possible. If this is the car for you then make the call.
