Vehicle Detail

For sale is my 1969 Ford Mustang Sportback. This is a base model car that originally came with a 351 Windsor V8 with a 2 barrel carb and an automatic transmission. Originally light green with black interior. Power steering, manual drum brakes. The car is 99% complete and is running and driving, but is probably in need of a complete restoration. This is a 44 year old car, so it will obviously need some work. I will try to give you a description that is as accurate as possible so there will be no surprises. This is the history of the car that I know of. The car was originally sold in California and spent most of its life there before being moved to Nevada which is where I purchased it from. The gentleman I purchased the car from owned it for about ten years before selling it to a friend. That friend installed the awful rear fender flairs, painted the car blue, and added the after market gauges. He quickly blew the original motor and then sold it back to the guy I purchased it from. After buying the car back he promptly had a shop rebuild a different 351 Windsor motor and install it with an aftermarket 4 barrel carburetor. Obviously the car does not have the numbers matching block or original carb. When the motor was rebuilt the brakes were rebuilt and the exhaust replaced. The guy moved to Nevada and brought the car with him parking it under a car port on the side of his house. I believe it sat there for eight years until I found it. When I purchased the car earlier in the year I drained the old gas, rebuilt the carburetor, replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump, bought a new battery, changed the oil, and the car started right up. The carb needs to be adjusted because it needs some starter fluid to help it start on occasion. The motor sounds excellent and once it warms up it idles nicely. Transmission shifts in and out of gear with no problem, however I have never driven the car more than in and out of my driveway. Exterior Spending its life in California and Nevada saved the car from a lot of the standard rust issues a 44 year old car would typically suffer from, but it still has a few trouble spots. Both doors have cancer spots coming through. There are two small rust bubbles on the roof which are pictured below, they appear very minor. When those awful fiberglass fender flairs were installed they cut the rear quarters, so they will both need to be replaced. There appears to be a lot of bondo around the flairs that is cracking. You can see this in the pictures. I have crawled all over this car and can not find any other cancer. The floors, frame rails, rocker panels, trunk floor, trunk lid, hood, roof rails, fenders, tail panel, and front valance are all free of serious rust. The underside still has all the factory undercoating. Obviously there are bits of surface rust here and there, but nothing to worry about. The passenger door and passenger quarter panel both have dents. The drivers door and drivers fender were rubbing and caused some damage that will need to be repaired. The front valance looks like it has some bondo in it and the front edge of the hood has some damage. I believe the hood scoop has been added. The front bumper has a dent. The front hood trim and some of the trim around the front grill need to be replaced. The passenger side mirror base is broken but the mirror is in the trunk. Tail lights need to be replaced and the exterior chrome needs to be redone. The driver side window is broken and needs to be replaced. That's about as honest and detailed as I can be. Please take a look at the pictures and feel free to ask any other questions you have. Interior The interior needs some work. The dash pad is cracked and the original steering wheel is gone. The seat covers, door panels, carpet, headliner, and other odds and ends will need to be replaced. The car does have a fold down rear seat. Everything appears to be there but is 44 years old, you get the idea. I have included a picture of the fender tag so that you can decode it if you'd like. I am not a Mustang expert, but I have tried to describe the car as best as possible. I have a clear California title in hand. Please feel free to email or call me with any questions you may have. Buyer will be responsible for either picking up the car, or finding and hiring a car shipper. A $500 non refundable deposit will be due within 24 hours after the auction closes. Full payment must be made within 7 days from the close of the auction. Please do not bid on the car if you do not intend to pay.
