Restored 1980 VW Rabbit Pickup. A little over 80k miles on the vehicle with about 3k miles on a newly rebuilt engine that is averaging between 45-50 mpg. This vehicle is virtually rust free (even the shock towers have absolutely no rust on them) and all electrical is in working order. A lot of time and effort has been put into the restoration of this Rabbit. Upgrades include: New seats, carpet, head liner, door panels, stereo, bumpers, spray on bed liner and fresh paint job. The paint is nice, but the prep job could have been done better causing some minor defects (bubbling) in a few areas. Brand new tires were put on less than 500 miles ago and are fully insured down to 3/32 inch remaining on tread or 3 years from purchase (which ever happens first). A presale vehicle inspection was recently conducted by a local auto service center and found everything to be in proper working order with the exception of a tear in the right boot of the front suspension and a minor oil leak from the oil cap seal. It was recommended to replace the right boot as well as right ball joint, eventually replace the alternator belt and have the emergency brake adjusted. The only other thing that will need to be updated is to replace the passenger door window seals as they have hardened and cracked causing a whistling sound when on the freeway and make it difficult to roll the window up and down. These Diesel VW Rabbit Pickups are fun to drive, get great gas mileage and are getting harder and harder to find, especially one like this in such exceptional condition.
