Here is the perfect candidate for a classic reliable daily rider or to completely restore, with only 2608 miles. MADE IN USA at the Gold Wing factory in Marysville Ohio. Very few of these still exist with low miles, this model is the "Grandfather" of all Honda 1100 V-twin cruisers and the styling is unmatched to this day. Late July I bought this ultra low miles Shadow from a collector (more of a hoarder), in slightly damaged not running condition. Over my lifetime I have saved many classic bikes, mainly for a hobby to get them running again, then to pass along to someone who would really appreciate a classic. This is the second year of the Shadow 1100 big twin motor, the 1985-86 models are widely considered collectible and the most stylish of all Honda cruisers. The hard work is done, cleaned the carbs, all jets, raised needles and shortened slide springs for performance, cleaned entire fuel system, flushed and changed the coolant, changed the oil, recharged the battery, had keys made for the ignition, flushed the hydraulic clutch fluid, flushed the brake fluid, cleaned the caliper pistons, replaced the thermostat housing, and added a second glass fuel filter above the fuel pump (the other is below the reserve tank between the frame.) The motor instantly fired up, runs like new and riding the bike was pure yesteryear pleasure. This Shadow was previously dropped at low speed on the left side and parked since 2008. I fixed a few dents in the tank (still in primer), replaced the headlight glass (and painted inside bucket), speedometer chrome cover (modified used tachometer cover), left foot peg, and touched up road rash things like levers and clutch/brake master cylinders. Note: there is road rash on both mufflers, shifter tip, one mirror, heat shield, maybe some more minor. For performance I eliminated the air box (included) and installed new pod air filters. For looks, added new mini turn signals. Also installed NOS rear brake shoes. The rear tire is date code 1999 and nearly new. My work is about finished, although tank still needs painted and old battery replaced (2008). I was thinking about painting the tank silver to match the side covers and leaving the center console black, but decided to leave that choice to the new owner. The oem battery is HYB16A-AB lead acid which is $50, personally I'd use the more modern and cheaper YTZ14S AGM gel type $35. Minor things needing attention but no hurry are fuel gauge (needs sensor), rear sissy bar pad (needs recovered), gas cap lock broken (made lid latch), and polish out aluminum and chrome. Overall, this is an imperfect road rash bike, with many flaws, not a show piece in any way. On the other hand this model is very sought after by Honda enthusiasts and worth about double if restored. Or simply ride as is and do little things one at a time. Clean, clear title in my name and supporting documents to authenticate 2600 miles. One caution, I have only road tested the bike for 8 miles (its not insured) and do not recommend a long trip yet. Bike is "as-is, where-is, no warranty", so ride at your own risk.
