Vehicle Detail
1970 Plymouth BarracudaGRAN COUPE 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Gran Coupe real "Barn Find", untouched with low 23,000 original miles and original paint! This car has been sitting in a barn for over 25 years, and is exactly as it was found. We lightly cleaned it, but will leave it up to the new owner as to what direction to take the car. It is one of 8,183 Barracuda Gran Coupes built in 1970, the lowest production of the three Cuda models. This was the luxury oriented Barracuda, and came with Deluxe trim and possibilities for many options. This car is one of only 170 cars equipped with the 230hp 318ci and 3 spd manual floor shift, and further broken down with the colors and options it is one of very few. The car was ordered in Deep Burnt Orange Metallic with Burnt Orange interior, premium trim, vinyl bucket seats, console, overhead consolette, heavy duty drum brakes, and heavy duty stamped steel wheels (now with Cragar wheels added in the 70's). It was finished January 8th, 1970. The original owner brought the car back to the dealership in the early 70's and had the Rally hood and pin kit added, along with the V21 performance hood treatment stripes. We do have the original hood, still painted in Burnt Orange Metallic. The body is in very good shape overall, with only minor rust down low behind the rear wheels, and a little around the wheel molding. The paint is original, factory paint and looks amazing. There are light scratches and scuffs and a few flaked spots, but overall it cleans up very nice for 43 year old paint. The black hood stripes have faded to gray. The rockers are solid, and there are no dents or bondo anywhere. This car has never been hit or restored. The driver's side floor pan will need to be patched, but the rest of the floor is solid. The trunk has an old fiberglass patch panel in the center pan, but the corners and edges where the trunk meets the body are solid and original. Just a few small holes have come through. The original jack is even still in place! The chassis underneath is solid overall, with just a little rust in the ends of the front torque boxes. We believe the engine to be original, and it will probably run with little effort. It does turn by hand, and looks complete, it's just been sitting for a very long time. The engine appears stock, except for a set of headers added. Inside the original Burnt Orange interior is intact, with the original wood grain steering wheel and upper/lower consoles. A vintage Hurst shifter was added long ago. The driver's seat has a tear, but the passenger and rear seats are in very nice shape. The dash is intact and complete, with the exception of an aftermarket radio. The windshield has a small crack near the roofline, from where a piece of the barn fell and hit the trim. Otherwise, all the glass is in good shape, and all is factory Chrysler glass. Original fender tag, dash vin tag, and door vin tags are intact. No title, sold on a bill of sale. This is a rare opportunity to own a true low mileage barn find Barracuda that is untouched and original. The options and colors make it a very unusual car, and certainly a fine addition to any classic car collection. Call Greg at 860-873-1092 or 860-575-8998 (cell) with any questions. On Oct-04-13 at 15:16:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Both door panels are present and intact, the passenger's door panel was loose so we just removed it to show the factory markings underneath.
