Vehicle Detail
This is an original 1973 Triumph Trident. I bought the bike in 1988 and it has been stored in my dry garage since 1991. The bike is currently fitted with European low bars but the original American high bars are with the bike. A Ciebie headlamp is fitted but the original Lucas unit is with the bike. The mileage, 5064, is believed to be genuine. The paintwork is original and is in very good condition with the exception of some small spots on the tank thanks to brake fluid (they can be seen in one of the photos). A battery acid spill at some time in the distant past has left small blemishes on the left silencer and frame in way of. The saddle is in good condition with no tears I have cleaned the fuel tank and refilled with new fuel. Crankcase, primary chain case and gearbox have been drained and refilled with fresh oil. A new oil filter is installed. The carburetors have been thoroughly cleaned and rebuilt with new gaskets and replaced using all new manifold rubber sleeves. A new copper cylinder head gasket and pushrod tube seals have been fitted. A new master brake cylinder is fitted but new seals should be fitted on the caliper pistons (new seals are included with the bike). New oil cooler reflectors are fitted (The old ones were missing). A new battery is installed. The ignition system is the original points system and a spare set of new points is included. The tires are the original Dunlop TT100's. They still hold air but the sidewalls are cracked and they need replacing. The bike starts and runs but it needs tuning and generally given a shake down (to be expected after 23 years in layup). Unfortunately there is still a slight oil leak( probably from a pushrod tube seal) and it does burn some oil periodically (The usual trident traits). The electrics all work but the flasher switch on the handlebars needs sorting Also included with the bike are a spare clutch pull rod (the rod and bearings were renewed just prior to layup) Special tools for the clutch and camshaft and a set of coils/capacitors etc.(used). Also included is the original tool holder with 3 of the original tools. A Workshop Manual, Parts manual and Owners Manual are with the bike. The buyer is entirely responsible for pick up and any crating involved. The bike is advertised locally so I do reserve the right to withdraw it at any time. In order to better show the condition of the chrome I have added some photos. The rear fender has some blemishes and pitting in the chrome while the front flasher stalks have blistered chrome. There is a photo of the acid damage to the chrome on the left silencer.
