Vehicle Detail
1980 Triumph TR8, 117,000 miles..originally belonged to the TR8 Car club President of North Carolina. Bought ten years ago by my friend, he seldom used it. He had a local mechanic install a starter relay, the moron dislodged the fuse box resulting in loose connections. He asked me to straighten it out and sell it. I restore British cars and have a personal collection consisting of a TR8,MGB,XKE,TR6 all mint. I removed the original intake and installed an Edelbrock intake, and an Edlebrock 500CFM carburetor, tune-up, oil change, brake booster, power steering lines, turn signal, alternator. The owner had both mufflers, and tail pipes installed, along with Spax shocks. They have less than 100 miles on them. Panasport rims. New paint job, bumpers correctly prepped and painted. Dropped tank and flushed. I have the headlights working, wipers, heater blower. The parking lights come on intermittently. This car has the original emission, and catalytic's that I left intact. Why you would want to keep them is beyond me...but some people are insane. This is a clean car...runs good. The new carb's electric choke isn't working (they said send it back-the shipping will be more than the choke)..I'll try and get a new one and install it. I recommend getting rid of the cats and installing headers. Big performance difference! No rust clean body. Original radio doesn't work. I would take out the fuse box and clean the terminals, prep and re-install, Lucas electrical systems get a bum rap...if you clean the terminals they work brilliantly. Interior is decent...look at the pictures. This is a no reserve auction...don't bid and then cry later. Come and take a look and a test drive. It needs very little work. I've seen ratty TR8's for sale lately...asking ridiculous prices. Make an offer.
