1970 Land Rover 109" 5-Door "Very Rare" Dormobile". I'm offering for sale my extremely rare Left Hand Drive, Series IIA Land Rover. This is a 6 cylinder 4x4 Family Fun Truck. I drive and use this car every week in the back hills of Arizona. The SERIES IIA is considered by many the most hardy Series model constructed. It is also the type of classic Land Rover that's featured strongley in the general public's perception of the Land Rover, from its many appearances in films and television documentaries set in Africa throughout the years. The SII and the SIIA are very difficult to distinguish. There were some minor cosmetic changes, but the most significant change was under the hood with the new 2.25 litre Diesel. Production started in 1969 in February when the head lamps moved into the wings on all models. In 1967 the 2.6 Litre straight six gas engine was introduced for use in the Long wheelbase models. This Station Wagon is the 5-door, 2.6 gas Straight Six, with a 4 speed manual transmission 109" LWB 3742 Lbs. ONLY 2250 of these were produced. Of those ONLY 725 were procuced into Dormobiles and only 50% were Left Hand Drive. So ONLY about 360 of these were produced. The VIN number is 351xxxxxxxxx Which shows that Vin's# from 345xxxxxxxx / 360xxxxxxxxx are Series IIA 2.6 L. and is the Series IIA 109" 6 cyl. Based on records the number of conversions by Martin Walter is by best estimates is only (725) of the Station Wagon models total. PARTS are still produced today if you want to Rebuild this to excellent condition. This station wagon is original and unmodified. The Gray faded original paint is OK. The Seats are Original "Dormobile" fold down, but are in need of re-upholstering. Door panels are a bit tacky "photos" but ALL parts for this car can be purchased on-line from Rover-North. The roof material has a hole in the edge "photo" although is still in fair condition. The "photo" will show the areas of rust. The tires hold air, and as I stated, I drive this car every week, but they are in need of replacement "photo". I would not drive this car on the highway with the rubber currently on this truck. This truck needs to be placed on a trailer and deliverd. The chassis seems basically sound, with a few small holes in one of the outriggers and at the base of the passenger door support frame. The muffler has a hole in it and could/should be replaced. I am not a mechanic so I can only say how I feel this truck runs. The 6 cylinder engine runs really smoothly with no smoke, funny noises or blow-by. ALL fluids hold great and there are no leaks from the water, oil or brake fluids. Transmission and clutch and drive train 4x4 all are very good. In the photos I showed the worst I could so there are no suprises... This truck could be driven as is only needing new tires and you could have fun for another 40 years. It's not a show car it is a back road 4x4 fun machine. If you wanted to restore this truck you would have One Super Rare Land Rover. You could part this car out and make more then you paid. Please call or e-mail with any questions. I have a clear title.
