Vehicle Detail
1968 Dodge Charger Concourse Quality Dodge Charger. Complete ground up nut and bolt, fully restored Dodge Charger concourse quality automobile. Every component of the car was completely disassembled and media blasted prior to reassembly. It would be impossible to list eveything done to this car. This description is merely the highest points of interest. No expense was spared in the restoration of this vehicle. A great deal of pride was taken in restoring this vehicle. The body was professionally painted factory Turbine Bronze Metallic. The top is black vinyl also new. All of the chrome has been replaced, including the wheel house moldings, turn signal bezels both side and rear, front and rear bumpers, front grille and perfectly working hideaway headlights. All of the exterior glass has been replaced, except for the front wing windows which remain in like new condition. The interior floor and firewall of the vehicle were stripped of the factory undercoating and sprayed with a high quality black urethane; the interior firewall dressed in sound-deadening insulation. The engine compartment has also been painted factory Turbine Bronze Metallic to match the exterior. The engine compartment paint includes a base coat and a clear coat and is super clean. The engine is a street friendly monster producing 609 horsepower @5400rpm and 688ft-lbs of torque at 4200rpm. A 440 mopar wedge stroked to 511” with a compression ratio of 10.5:1 tuned on 93 octane, built, tuned, race balanced, and dynoed (dyno sheet provided) by Best Machine Racing in MI., forged Diamond dished 13cc pistons, forged Eagle crankshaft and rods, custom flat tappet nitrided Comp cam 245/257 @110, 535/542 lift with Pro Magnum 1.5 Rockers, Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads prepped, ported, and flowed by Dwayne Porter Racing Heads, Holley Street Dominator intake, Quick Fuel 850cfm carburetor, Aeromotive 140gph electric fuel pump, MSD 6 al ignition box, MSD billet distributor and spark plug wires. A twin core Griffin radiator with Spal thermostatically controlled electric dual fans setup and Milodon hi volume water pump handle the cooling duties. The exhaust system consists of 1 & 7/8” Hooker Super Comp Headers to 3” collectors to 40 series Flowmaster mufflers to 3” dual side exit pipes completely Jet Hot ceramic coated. The transmission is a completely rebuilt A833 4 speed manual with a Lakewood bell housing, new flywheel, and a new 11” Centerforce Stage II clutch assembly. The restored interior is black. The restoration includes new headliner, carpet, seats and door panels. The dash plates were also refurbished by Mr. G's and all of the dash light bulbs were replaced at that time as well as the dash lenses buffed clear and new original gauge decals installed. The car retains all of the factory gauges. An 8 point roll bar was installed. All of the latches, strikers, brake booster and hood hinges were gold cad plated. The trunk was also newly re-carpeted and contains a 16 gallon RCI fuel cell. The rear frame is a S&W 4-link and has chrome 4-link bars, panhard bar, shock mounts and QA1 single adjustable coilovers. The rear end housing is the factory 8.75”, narrowed and fitted with Strange 30-spline axles, 4:56 Richmond gears, Auburn posi, and Mark Williams bearing caps and adjusters. The factory rear drum brakes were refurbished and retained. The front suspension has all new bushings, ball joints and QA1 shocks, as well as Hotchkis front swaybar along with Firm Feel stage III steering box. All brake lines were replaced with braided stainless steel lines. The front brakes replaced with Wilwood disc brakes. The wheels are Weld Racing Pro Stars, rears are 15x15 wrapped in 33x21.5 Mickey Thompson Sportsman's. The front are 29x7.60 Moroso Drag Specials. Custom driveshaft 3” in diameter with .083” wall and custom driveshaft loop. The undercarriage of this car is like new. You could not go into a showroom anywhere and look at a brand new car and find an undercarriage as clean and new looking as this car. It is as beautiful on the bottom as it is on the top. In an attempt to be as honest as possible in regard to the condition of the Charger I have included 2 pictures of the only paint chips I am aware of. They are actually difficult to photograph as small as they are. They are as a result of driving on the highway with a show quality vehicle and the reason the car now sits covered in my garage and is listed for sale. I can't drive this car and enjoy it. I don't attend car shows, just want something I can drive on the weekend when the weather is nice. This car is too nice and draws too much attention for me to enjoy in that manner. I will also include with the sale of the Charger a Vintage Air Conditioning system new in the box--Generation IV Magnum. NOS parts were used wherever possible. The car has been driven under 250 miles since restoration. Be prepared to turn heads!
