Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Thanks for looking at my 1965 Chevrolet Impala. It is a 2 door hardtop with a 327 in it and 4 on the floor. I bought the car in running condition about 10 years ago for $3,500.00 from a man in Kentucky and had it shipped to California for $1,000.00. I spent several thousand dollars trying to restore the vehicle before moving away and leaving the car to sit for about seven years. When I left the car was registered and running, and for a while it sat with a drip down charger on it and was started once a month. Recently my family moved from its home and I was forced to deal with the car. The car was dead, a lot of corrosion on the battery terminals and full of old gas. I siphoned the gas out, put fresh gas in, bled the brakes, put a new battery and starter in, and after some coughing and choking it fired up and was driven around the block a few times. The engine didn’t sound good like it did when I parked it seven years ago, but it ran and put out power like I remembered. I took the car to my friend’s place for storage. When I got there I noticed gas leaking out of the neck where the line meets the gas tank. One of the things I put in when I was working on the car was a new gas tank so I’m thinking the connection is loose but not sure. I went down to AAA and paid all registration costs so the car is currently registered (CLEAN TITLE) with no back fees or weird things of any kind. I dug up an envelope containing a lot of the receipts from the work I did on the car about ten years ago, which I’ll list below. A lot is not accounted for in the receipts (some missing and some faded white) and I’ve forgotten a lot of the work but a few things that come to mind are: I spent between one and two thousand dollars on sheet metal, welding and body-work. Of this I remember passenger pans inside being replaced, the trunk pan, both rear quarter panels, and I think one of the front panels but am not sure. Also, various other small spots. A couple hundred on new shocks and springs. The front springs are either 1 inch lower then stock or the rear are 1 inch higher, I can’t remember but I know I wanted a little bit of a raked drag look. About one thousand on rebuilding the engine. Transmission rebuild, can’t remember cost. Stainless brake lines, new Hurst shifter… can’t remember cost. Probably more but I can’t remember. My goal at the time was to get the car in tip top shape mechanically and worry about cosmetics later, which I never got to. As you see in the pictures she’s stripped pretty bear inside, but I believe I have the majority of the parts which I’ve also added pictures of. The car was never really driven the way I’d hoped. I took it out a few times back then, but really I put less then 1000 miles on the car while I had it. All of the work on it and parts are essentially brand new, yet 7 years old. Sadly some of the chrome has rust, etc. THE RECEIPTS I CAN FIND MSD Wire Set (MSD-30479) $65.39 Be Cool Aluminum Radiator and Cap (BCI-6016) $538.64 Aluminum Fan Spacer & Bolts (80193) $29.98 Rocker Stud Replacement $20.00 New Hood Springs, Hood Hinge, A-Arm Flaps $128.23 Interior Bulbs $18.07 Radiator Hoses, Clamps $31.83 Oil, Filter $32.23 Water Neck $10.49 Chrome Power Steering Bracket $96.32 March Alum. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, but remember this was a big project and thing I was into, but it was a while back. I’m not as familiar with all this stuff as I used to be, and the car hasn’t been in my mind for a long time. I’ll try to answer questions as best I can. Also, if you’d like to come see it the car is in Torrance CA and I can arrange to have it shown by a friend. I’d like to keep it and restore it but I just don’t see that happening. While it’s not the prettiest little thing, I think there is value there for someone who knows more about it and has the drive to complete the project. If you win it please be ready to make payment within 24 hours of the auction close. You can meet me and pay cash or paypal but either way please complete payment quickly. If you need the car shipped I’m willing to meet your guys or be available to release the car etc. Please contact me to make arrangements. I’ll be adding a video walk-around of the car as soon as I can figure out how to do that. ***UPDATE***The car has been sitting in it’s new spot for about 6 months. When I recently went to see it and photograph it I noticed one of the tires has gone flat. All the tires are crummy. I got them from a used place just to move the car around. I was able to start the car once again and move it but because of the tires, leaking gas issue I mentioned, and general state of being full of parts I would not recommend driving the car away. It will run, has tags, and is legal to do so but because of the long term sitting I’d check out the engine tires etc. before taking it on the road. Thanks. On Jul-22-13 at 07:56:19 PDT, seller added the following information: ***UPDATE*** Ebay will not let me post a link to the video walk around of the vehicle, but if you email me I will send you the link. Thanks. On Jul-22-13 at 08:10:37 PDT, seller added the following information: After going over eBay's policies I believe they will allow the link to video so I'm posting it here...hopefully they don't remove my auction...
