THANK YOU. Body Condition : I would call this a VERY NICE driver! a 5 OR 10 FOOTER AS THEY SAY ...For Its Age 40 + the body is pretty solid just look at the photos not a big rusted out rust bucket, The trunk is solid some tiny minor repairs were already made. The undercarriage frame is solid. The paint has a nice shine to it but has several cracks and or chips that were touched up here and their. The vehicle was painted awhile ago and its quality is about a # 6.8 on the ten scale . Has factory cowl hood, Factory rally wheels, Console, Bucket Seats, The chrome on the car is all very nice overall no rust or fadeing. Glass is all good ,tiny little stone mark on windshield but not an issue. This is not a show car, but a VERY respectable driver.Drive it like it is or If you wanted to make it more than a driver, you know you are starting with a solid foundation.and not theses basket cases :0) Interior : Very respectable interior. Seats front and rear restored / replaced/re covered , door panels replaced as needed, all new door rubber seals.has am fm with cd and i pod and phone hook up,Three condition issues worth mentioning: Needs passengers head rest , new locks for both the glove box and console, Passengers seat needs release button on seat back. Other than that, there is nothing else not to like about the inside of this one! Headliner, seats, door panels, all either very good or were replaced with new stuff by previous owner and everything is their ,visors ,seat belts, dome light etc All Electrical works as it should , even the fuel gage works .... Mechanically : Runs out fine, shifts fine, stops fine no rear gear noise, no leaks that i have ever noticed, Has power steering and disc brakes front, A lot of money was spent on this car by previous owner, the big block 402 engine does not smoke or leak even after she sits for a week, i do not know the HP, if i had to guess i would say 365 H.P All you have to do is just look under the hood and see the all the money that was spent such as the painless wire harness, all new hoses and belts from GM not the corner auto store , New 3 core HD radiator, new dist , new wires , new carb ,new plugs, fuel pump ,braided lines, and even all the Chrome goddies under the hood a a better qualitythe list goes on etc etc. Car has a remote control strobe running lighting system in red it will do a coulple of patterns,This car has not been driven a lot over the last year comes with a clear title. She will fire right up and run down the road...QUICKLY.... Most of the things done to this car were done by pervious owner before we got it......if you just look around you will see all the Quality of the work and exactly what you are getting , yes it will need paint and body work if you really want to take it up several notches or do a satin black rod and you can be done just a thought , Car even has new horns, mufflers, belts, voltage regulator, Engine and transmission were suspose to be all rebuilt by previous owner and it looks and sounds like it but sorry no paper work ...i have given you the code information on the car and eng i have no other info ,,,SORRY NO BUILD SHEET OR WINDOW STICKER... This car decodes as a 5 passenger 2 dr spt cpe preminum (code 36) Dark blue with black interior code (26 26 )and a t 400 trans ....with out the build sheet i wont say 100 per cent its a SS but all indications and the way it was built lean towards that way but you can reserch it more if you wish...below is inf for you 19701971DecodeResearch1971 Chevelle Vehicle Identification Number Plate [ 1964 ] | [ 1965 ] | [ 1966 ] | [ 1967 ] | [ 1968 ] | [ 1969 ] | [ 1970 ] | [ 1971 ] | [ 1972 ] United StatesNo Photo Available Canada 1971 VIN Breakdown Do not confuse the Vehicle Identification Number plate information with that found on the Fisher Body Number plate (trim tag). The series depiction on the VIN plate does NOT have the meaning as the Fisher Body Number plate. The Vehicle Identification Number plate (VIN) has similar information to the trim tag such as the model, year, and assembly plant. One difference is the last six numbers relating to the the assembly plant sequence as opposed to the trim tag's Fisher Body sequence and the series will designate a 6-cyl (odd 3rd digit) or V8 (even 3rd digit) on the VIN plate where the 3rd digit on the trim tag does not. A typical 1971 Chevelle VIN might read: 136671R173972 being a Malibu V8 2-door convertible assembled in Arlington, TX. and is the 73,972nd 1971 model year Chevelle sequenced at the Arlington, TX. assembly plant. The VIN plate is located on the forward part of the dash so the VIN plate could easily been seen through the windshield of the car. The VIN plate was riveted a special bracket with unique 'rosette' rivets. See VIN plate examples here First Character: Division of General Motors 1 - Chevrolet Second and Third Character: Series Designation * 31 - Nomad station wagon, 6-cylinder 32 - Nomad station wagon, 8-cylinder 33 - Chevelle, 6-cylinder 34 - Chevelle, Greenbrier station wagon, 8-cylinder 35 - Malibu, 6-cylinder 36 - Malibu, Concours station wagon, 8-cylinder 38 - Concours Estate station wagon, Monte Carlo, 8-cylinder Fourth and Fifth Character: Body Style/Model 36 - 4-door station wagon, 2-seat 37 - 2-door sport coupe 39 - 4-door sport sedan 46 - 4-door station wagon, 3-seat 57 - Monte Carlo 2-door sport coupe 67 - 2-door convertible 69 - 4-door sedan 80 - 2-door sedan pickup Sixth Character: Year of Production 1 - 1971 Seventh Character: Final Assembly Plant R ~ Arlington, Texas B ~ Baltimore, Maryland K ~ Kansas City, Missouri L ~ Van Nuys, California 1 ~ Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Eighth through Thirteenth Characters: Sequential Production Number The sequential starting number for the 1971 Chevelle was 100001 at all Chevelle assembly plants except Oshawa, Ontario which started at 500001. Each assembly plant sequenced Chevelles of all series/models without regard to specific series/models. For example, if a series 13857 Monte Carlo followed a 13667 Malibu convertible, the sequence number would be one unit higher for the Monte Carlo. It's also entirely possible to have the same sequence number from all five 1971 U.S. assembly plants with the only difference between the VINs being the plant code. Oshawa, Ontario would not have a matching sequence number of a U.S. plant Chevelle due to the starting sequence of 500001. No 1971 Monte Carlos were built at Arlington. malibu (35/36) series although it's often listed as such. The base (33/34) El Camino is a 2-dr sedan pickup body style with standard trim where the (35/36) El Camino Custom is a 2-dr sedan pickup body style with Malibu trim.VIN plate location Although these photos are of 1970 Chevelles, the location is the same for 1968 through 1972 VIN plates; 1965 through 1972 VIN plates used special rivets. Note the two different styles of riveting done. 1971 VIN Assembly Plant CodesLetter CodeAssembly PlantSeries *BBaltimore, Maryland4 **, 6, 7CSouthgate, California1DAtlanta, Georgia (Doraville)1JJanesville, Wisconsin1KKansas City, Missouri4 **, 6, 7LLos Angeles, California (Van Nuys)4 , 5, 6, 7NNorwood, Ohio5RArlington, Texas4SSt. Louis, Missouri1, 2TTarrytown, New York1YWilmington, Delaware11Oshawa, Canada1, 4, 6* 1-Passenger; 2-Corvette; 3-Chevy II; 4-Chevelle; 5-Camaro; 6-Monte Carlo; 7-GMC Sprint ** Included El Camino1971 Chevrolet VIN Sequence NumbersSeriesBegin SequencePlantPassenger100001AllCorvette700001St. LouisChevy II100001Willow RunChevelle/ Monte Carlo100001 500001All except Oshawa OshawaCamaro500001Los Angeles, Norwood Hhere is the eng codes.. In previous years the SS396 and SS454 options were performance oriented, meaning they included either a "396" or "454" high performance engine. With rising insurance concerns and costs, Chevrolet dropped the RPO Z25 SS396 option and changed the 1970 RPO Z15 SS454 option to simply Z15 SS Equipment option (hereafter referred to simply as Z15) and it became more of a dress-up option than a truly performance option. The Z15 SS Equipment option continued to be available on only the Malibu 2-dr sport coupe, convertible, and pickup body styles. Unlike earlier years the only way to truly document a 1971 Chevelle as having the SS Equipment option is with some sort of paperwork showing the option itself. The warranty protect-o-plate card is of little use to determine if the SS option was ordered or not UNLESS the protect-o-plate indicates a 454 engine. Since three other V8 engines could not only be ordered with the Z15 option, but without it as well, even having the engine numbers match the car's VIN is of no significance with these other 3 engines. For 1971, any optional V8 engine and transmission was now available which meant the L65 350-2, the L48 350-4, as well as the LS3 400-4 and LS5 454-4 engines could be ordered as well as any manual 4-speed or 3-speed automatic. The 307 cubic inch engine could not be ordered with the Z15 option since it was not an optional engine but rather the base V8 engine. Some claim the 307 was available early in the model year but no documented 307 has been reported with the Z15 option. Unlike previous years, not all SS-optioned Chevelles came with a 12-bolt rear end. The SS Equipment option was available with any optional V8 engine in 1971 as noted above. The L65 350-2bbl engine came standard with a 10-bolt rear end and only equipped with a 12-bolt rear end when the trailer option (RPO YD1) was ordered. The other 3 optional V8 engines (L48, LS3, and LS5) were outfitted with 12-bolt rear ends so when one of those engines was ordered along with the SS Equipment option a 12-bolt rear end was used. Positraction was still an option; an open rear end was standard. However, a 12-bolt rear end, as well as Positraction, was available on non-SS-optioned Chevelles as well so the presence of a 12-bolt (with or without Positraction) is not an indication of a 1971 SS-optioned Chevelle. The L34 "396" and the LS6 "454" were gone. The L34 was replaced with the LS3, 330hp 402 cubic inch engine and the LS6 was dropped from the lineup. Although some early test cars were built with the LS6 as magazine test cars, the LS6 was dropped from the Chevelle. Three of the optional V8 engines available with the Z15 option were also available without the Z15 option. Only the LS5 454 engine mandated the Z15 option. VERY LOW RESERVE FOR A CAR LIKE THIS..
