Vehicle Detail

This is a very attractive, hardtop only, numbers matching vehicle. The VIN (E57S102676) indicates that the car was assembled in St Louis as the 2676th of 6339 Corvettes produced in 1957. The assembly date has been determined by others to have been March 20, 1957. The engine casting date is B277 or Feb 27th, 1957 and the engine assembly date is F 228 EF which indicates assembly in the Flint plant on Feb 28th with a configuration of a 283 CI 220 HP 3 speed (one of 2886 3 speeds produced that year). The intake manifold is stamped K 236 or Nov. 23rd 1956. The transmission is stamped B 157 or Feb. 15th 1957. Stampings on the steering column (5666151) and rear end (3725899) appear to be correct for the vehicle as well. This vehicle has spent the majority of its life in the Midwest and has been stored more than driven from the mid 1960’s until the early 1990’s when it underwent a modest restoration. The frame is in excellent condition as is the body. The paint shows minor fender spider webs which can be seen upon close inspection. The chrome is clean and in good condition. The car has 5 BF Goodrich tires with the proper whitewall widths and lots of tread. The hubcaps are not dented and are in very solid condition. The trunk liner, and spare tire cover and jack are with the car. The original mufflers have been replaced with glass-packs as can be seen in the underbody photos. In 1957, 4055 Corvettes came with hardtops, and this car has never had a soft top. The car does not have a heater. The hardtop has a new liner, new weather stripping, and new window felts have been installed. The clock is perfectly accurate twice per day, and the speedometer does not measure speeds accurately. All gages and electricals deserve a review to bring them to showroom standards. The car has an original radio and speaker. The odometer reading 22,422 and the tachometer reads 440,075. This car is being sold as is and no warranty (expressed or implied) is made in conjunction with this sale. The seller has made a good faith effort to describe the vehicle for potential buyers to evaluate their interest but the seller is not responsible for the genuineness of the history of the vehicle or complete accuracy of any defects and any descriptions or representations made herein are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. A bid is a legally binding contract to purchase the vehicle. Please do not bid unless you are financially able to complete the transaction. Bidders must be at least 18 years to bid. I encourage you to inspect or arrange for an inspection of the vehicle prior to bidding. A non refundable deposit of $1500 is required within 48 hours of the conclusion of the auction. Inability to arrange financing does not constitute a valid reason for the return of a deposit. The remaining balance must be paid within 5 days of the completion of the auction. Transportation of the vehicle is the buyer’s responsibility. The seller reserves the right to cancel the auction at any time, in order to satisfy local interest in the vehicle.
