Vehicle Detail
1963 Triumph TR4 with over $7,000 of recent mechanical improvements I only just bought this car back in November from a guy who had had it for the past 10 years. It has always been garaged. It had 84, 675 miles on it when I got it. I spent all winter upgrading the mechanicals and getting it running nice and smooth and now a career change and relocation has forced me to sell it. Overall it runs like new with a few cosmetic flaws and a couple spots of rust but is an excellent daily driver. Here is a list of the work done to the car from the previous owner:$5,000 complete engine rebuild (less than 1,000 miles on newly rebuilt engine)Rebuilt carburetorsNew tires and wire wheelsNew floor pansNew top (though it has flaws, see pictures)Electric radiator fanAnd here is the work I've put into it, less than 200 miles driven:Newly rebuilt transmission from a TR6, the thicker flange type (bought from Foreign Car Enterprises in Kansas City)Brand new exhaust from the header back (Header pipe from Moss Motors; Pacesetter Monza performance muffler, resonator and tailpipe)Completely serviced the clutch: new clutch disc and resurfaced flywheel, new release/throwout bearingBrand new fuel tank (see pictures)New Facet electric fuel pump and filter (will include old, functional SU electric pump if so desired)Full tune-up (new rotor, distributor cap, points, plugs, wires, etc.)Converted from positive to negative ground (ready for a radio or alternator conversion)Refreshed carburetors with new gasketsNew gaskets in head cover and oil panInstalled a TR4a-style PCV systemI have paperwork for all the work I've done and have had the engine work checked out by a mechanic. Engine compression is great (175, 185, 190, 185), leak-down test was "good as new," and block test was good, too. This car is as solid mechanically as you can get. There are a few flaws which you can see in the photos, mainly the trunk floor and sills have some rust and will eventually need some attention. The top doesn't quite fit right on the driver's side. The owner included extra material to have it fixed. There are a couple areas of paint flaws also visible in the photos. The carpet and seats could use some work, too. The chrome, grill, headlights, and frame are all in excellent condition.I posted a video on youtube of it driving after putting in the new transmission.
