1962 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 Convertible; 4-Speed, 6-Cylinder I’m selling this car for a friend. He bought the car in 2012. My friend is a collector and will buy a car to experience the styling, beauty, and performance, then he will sell the car and buy another for the same reasons. In this particular case, he purchased this very clean 1962 Corvair Monza convertible partially for sentimental reasons as it was one of the first cars driven during his youth in the 1960’s. During the summer driving season of 2012, he enjoyed the experience of driving this Corvair over 500 miles locally. Now he is ready to sell the car to someone else who will also enjoy owning and driving it. Information from the previous owner indicates the Corvair was fully restored (frame-off restoration) about fifteen years ago. It was driven between 8,000 – 9,000 miles since the restoration. It is not clear whether the odometer reading of 8,000 miles indicates miles since restoration or whether they are the original miles, e.g., 100,000+8,000. Additional features, condition descriptions, and selling points: · The car has a history of having been garaged by the previous and current owner · The vehicle is extremely clean and in very good condition · The paint is in great condition · The car was totally inspected by a competent auto service shop after purchase last year, 2012 · The engine does not leak and the exhaust system is in good condition · 6-cylinder engine was rebuilt by the previous owner during the restoration process · 4-speed manual transmission had a new clutch installed last year, 2012 · To ensure safe driving the brake system was thoroughly inspected, and although the brake shoes and brake wheel cylinders were serviceable, they were replaced last year, 2012 · The Corvair runs and drives well · Convertible top is white in color and is raised and lowered manually (there is no power switch) · The car has the original AM radio which works very well · 900 Monza wheels with 1” white wall tires · Tires appear to be in good condition as they are not worn or aged (cracked) · All gauges work well with the exception of the speedometer (see below) · The speedometer reading is off by about 7 mph (For example when the speedometer reading is 40 mph the car is actually travelling at a speed of 33 mph). The buyer will be responsible for any shipping of the vehicle. The car must be picked up locally within two weeks from the end of the sale unless other arrangements are discussed and agreed to.
