This is a very original, rare, and solid 58' Pontiac Chiefton two door hard top. It only has 74646 actual miles on it. Very solid car with no signs of rust repair that I can see. Erickson Pontiac out of Farmington New Mexico sold it new, so snow and salt was not an issue. All original body panels, floor pans, rockers, body mounts, fenders, etc. with no rust or repair work. The underside of this car has not been painted or undercoated to hide any rust or repairs. It has had one repaint in Lacquer paint many years ago. It is very shinny and looks great from 10 feet away, but it has a lot of fine cracking from the sun and heat down there, and some road rash. It was originally a blue and white car. Who ever did the color change must have completely taken this car apart to do it the right way. There are no signs of the color change anywhere other than a couple of places where the paint is chipped. I actually did not realize the car had the color change until after I drove it home. There is one small dent on the hood from the inside up. Looks like someone left a bolt on the power steering pump oil reservoir then closed the hood. The interior is the same. Originally blue and white, but now red and white. The blue on the original door panels was dyed red. The seat covers were re-placed in red and white, and the carpet was replaced with red. Again, you have to study the interior to see the change. The dash is in great shape. The instrument bezel has some minor pitting but there is a perfect one in the trunk. All gauges appear to work except fuel gauge. Radio, horn, and wipers do not work. The chrome is all original and very nice driver quality. The underside of the rear bumper is about the only place with some pitting. All stainless trim is in great shape as well as the window glass. Tires are new reproduction radial wide white walls on the factory rims. Engine is the original 370 two barrel V-8 that runs out very strong. No noises or smoke. Hydro-matic trans shifts solid and smooth. It has all new dual exhaust. Power steering and manual brakes. Both work great. Car really does run and drive like a new car. I would not be afraid to drive it any distance. Also have many manuals that come with it. All in all, this is one of the nicest rust free cars of this style that I have come across for many years, and when was the last time you seen a '58 Pontiac 2 door hardtop Chiefton for sale? I remember a time when most 1958 GM cars were looked down on and now they are one of the hottest years out there. Go figure. Now for the business end. I encourage you, or someone you trust or hire, to come by and check out the vehicle in person. I will refund your deposit if the vehicle does not match the above description. The vehicle does not leave here until all funds clear my bank. Bank and cashiers checks can take up to 10 business days. My bank will give me a letter stating the date when the check will clear.
