Vehicle Detail

1955 Triumph Trophy - this is the competition model with the all alloy engine and competition magneto. This bike is the same model of James Dean and Fonzie/Happy-Days fame and is therefore SERIOUSLY cool. Obviously this bike was run as a bobber in the past but the frame is stock rake and uncut. The rake is achieved by a 21 inch rim on the Triumph disk forks and short rear shocks. This particular machine also has a number of very rare and desirable performance options. An Extremely rare factory twin carb head (this is the 'delta' type similar to those fitted to the 1959 Bonneville - except this IS a genuine 500 head supplied by Triumph for class/bracket racing). Tachometer drive timing cover (the gears are in it and they turn freely). K2FC competition magneto. Light alloy/polished valve gear. Alloy tappet blocks. This bike was intended to be very quick. Ordinary ones sell for well over $10,000 restored - this one appears to be special. The engine was rebuilt at some time in the past (reportedly by Jeff Stovel) but never run. It kicks over smoothly and I lifted the head for inspection - the pistons and cylinder liners are new. The combustion chambers ARE indeed the 500 type, and there are no cracks between the sparking plug holes and valve seats etc. There are no missing fins on the head or alloy barrel, but the tips of 3 of the fins on the barrel near the right side exhaust push rod tube are bent over. This is not a very noticeable position, but they maybe could be straightened by applying some heat and some careful adjustment. I have the various nuts/bolts/pushrod/etc tubes that were removed to lift the head. The engine and frame numbers match - but I don't have a title - bill of sale only.
