Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1963 Chevrolet Impala S.S. This vehicle is a true 1963 Chevrolet Impala S.S. and is an original one family owned vehicle. My grandmother bought the car brand new at Ellis Brooks Chevrolet in San Francisco, Ca. My grandmother purchased the vehicle brand new for $3,505.55! You may ask yourself, how does he know this? The answer is simple; I have the dealer window sticker that hung in the window when the vehicle was new. Sometime in 1984 or 1985 the vehicle was stolen from my grandmother, but was recovered by the C.H.P. a short time later. By the time the car was recovered the suspect had removed the vin plate and started sanding the car. C.H.P. put a new vin plate on the car and that is why it looks different than the original vin. You can compare it against the window sticker. I remember being just a kid when my dad, my three brothers and I all wet sanded the car to have it repainted before it went back to my grandmother. My grandmother gave me all she had for the vehicle when she gave me “Betsy” in 1996. “Betsy” was the name my grandmother had given her beloved Impala. My brothers and I did as close to a frame off restoration as we could (frame was never out from under the car, but was up in the air high enough for us to give everything a good cleaning and undercoating). Everything has been replaced from body mount bushings to suspension parts. There is not a nut, bolt or screw I have not touched on the car. I have a pile of receipts for all that I did to the car. As for the specifics on the vehicle; the vehicle was originally equipped with a 175hp 283 V-8, two speed automatic power glide transmission, and stock rear differential – all numbers matching (still have all the aforementioned items that will go along with the car). I have since replaced all the running gear in the vehicle. The vehicle is now equipped with the following: Engine - 450hp 350 V-8 (ZZ5 385 fast-burn GM crate motor with the hot cam kit up grade) - Also installed was the serpentine belt system on the motor - HEI distributor - 650cfm Edlebrock carburetor with vacuum secondary’s - New power steering pump Transmission - Turbo 350 - Professionally rebuilt with a B&M shift kit installed - Shortened and balance drive shaft with heavy duty carrier bearing installed - Lokar shifter Rear End - Ford 9 inch - Professionally built - 31 spline Moser axels - Drum brakes Front Brakes - Willwood disk brake kit - Power booster * I am not happy with this brake set up and have tried several things to improve the stopping ability of the vehicle. I have been told the brake pads may be too hard. The car will stop, but not like I feel it should. Maybe a new set of eyes (new owner) will have an idea. · I STILL HAVE ALL THE ORGINAL RUNNING GEAR MISC. - Brand new interior from Classic Industries (Professionally installed and used the original buttons from the original seat upholstery because the new buttons were a different size) - Have brand new lower fenders so rust can be fixed (just don’t have the time and they weren’t available when I had the car painted) - Chevy rally wheels (painted silver) with chrome trim rings & center caps. - 2 ½” exhaust with Borla mufflers – sounds great! - All new interior was purchased through Classic Industries and professionally installed. The installer used the seat buttons from the original seat upholstery because the new buttons were a different size. - New side moldings and emblems (bumpers are the original chrome and could stand to be re-chromed, but new license plate inserts). - Paint is very nice, but has a few minor nicks and very minor scratches as it was painted a few years ago. The biggest chip is on the top edge of the passenger door and is about the size of a pea and could easily be touched up. Betsy has been sitting and not driven much. I have finally decided it is time to sell her – TO A GOOD HOME – and let someone else enjoy her!! This is a hard decision for me and will miss her greatly (hope my very small kids won’t hate me later for selling her). Too much to list but we can talk about any questions you may have. Just want to give all the highs and lows of the vehicle so people know what they are getting. I have set the reserve at what I feel is a fair price. If you call me please don’t call with a lowball offer – I will just hang up. I have the vehicle listed locally and reserve the right to sell it at anytime and end the auction. The vehicle is sold as is – no warranty! Please feel free to call me with any questions (reasonable hours since I live on the west coast) 925-808-8088 – Steve.
