Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for auction is my wife's toy car- her 1966 Volkswagen 1300 Beetle Convertible in red with a black top and interior. We bought it with an 80% complete restoration already done. According to the seller the engine and trans were rebuilt with a fresh clutch installed. The charging system was upgraded to the 12V alternator style from later Volkswagens. There were four brand new Coker Classis Whitewall tires on new chrome wheels with baby moon hubcaps too. The paint, top, interior and bright work are all fresh and smart. Since we bought it we've put some time and money into it to finish the restoration - We had a local shop install the 009 Distributor with HEI ignition system, change the oil and adjust the valves; reset timing and carburetor, replace the fuel pump with a modified design that prevents a broken fan belt from tearing the fuel lines off; and the clutch pedal assembly was removed and the cable replaced and all lubricated again. They also did some minor adjustments to the hood latch, the interior door handles weren't on right and they checked the car over completely, during this inspection they found the front ball joints to be worn out of spec. The radio works, it is AM only and it squeals going underneath an overpass but it works! Shoulder harnesses and seat belts were installed, correct in black with the logo on chrome buckles. We also had the four way flashers fixed and found the horn to be defective, that has been replaced and works fine. New wiper arms, radio speaker, the trunk liner and fuel gauge sending unit cover, a jack and tools and a new set of front brake lines cover most of the other repairs we've done in the last six months. The first time we listed this car I got several questions and comments about it- this is NOT a concourse level restoration. It has been put back together in the spirit of 1966 but with upgrades for safety and convenience. I was told the fenders, mirrors and interior are from a 1967. It matters not. The title is for a 1966, not a 1967. This is an excellent little car that I would drive anywhere for just about any distance. For its size and weight it is quite comfortable, and I'm well over 6' tall! Open is low, far below the highest bid placed the first time it was listed at $7495. The reserve is set below my investment. Hagerty appraised this car at $25,000 to $35,000 and it is currently insured for $25,000. We will assist in getting the car shipped to your location. I also have no qualms about saying you can fly in to Phoenix and drive it across the USA to get it home, not only having fun with your toy but an adventure in the bargain! The fine print below is from my weekly listings for electronics and stereo gear, and may or may not fully apply to this automobile listing. The Terms of Sales And Answers to Frequently Asked Questions found here: Our 'Boilerplate' or the fine print covers most of the details relating to sales in general, please read it! I get really annoyed when asked a question that is clearly answered in this section. Take the time to read it. Please. And read all the way to the end because that is where the updates are posted. Some of this seems rude or redundant, but that is because we are asked the same questions over and over so I try to answer them ahead of time. Perhaps YOUR question is answered here, so read it and understand it. Maybe somebody else already asked it too and the answer is at the bottom. Check it out Shipping Costs: We work hard to provide quality products with a fair shipping and handling charge. We carefully weigh and measure EVERY item during the listing to make sure your estimate is accurate. We do NOT however set the freight rates. Size and weight together determines the cost! Please don’t complain to me about how much it will cost to ship your new toy. I can do nothing about the costs, they are what they are. If you prefer another carrier because their cost is lower, that is fine provided they will pick up the item or have a conveniently located local terminal; they have proof of delivery signature confirmation; and will insure parcel for full sale value. We only offer shipping quotes through the eBay freight calculator. YOU must do the research for other carriers ALL International shipments require a contact phone number on the bill of lading. Highly suggested on EVERY shipments! USPS or Mailing of items: Unless there is a USPS mailing option in the listing, the freight calculator will only show UPS charges for both US and international sales. Again, we will use any freight service of your choice provided they meet some simple criteria- 1) Local terminal or pickup; 2) Proof of Delivery signature service; 3) insurance for value of item. With this in mind, when possible and prudent to do so, we will mail small, lightweight and low value items, both in country and international, Items under 1# can be shipped USPS Priority mail with charges for Postage & Handling. We ONLY use USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate in post office supplied flat rate boxes as appropriate. If the item won't fit in the flat rate box it isn't shipping via USPS! We do NOT mail any other items! If we will ship it by USPS mail, we added that service to the freight calculator. Remember that USPS may not have insurance coverage as many countries have no mail insurance and most have no Delivery Confirmation Service. Mailed items are FOB Phoenix, AZ 85032. Current USPS Flat Rate Prices (Subject to change): ConUS: Large: $14.95; Medium: $10.95; Small: $5.20 Handling $3-5 for all, plus insurance. International: Large: $58.50; Medium: $45.50; Small $13.95 Handling $3-5 for all, plus insurance. International Buyers: Shippers now REQUIRE double boxing for payment of damage claims, so there is often an extra $10-25 for the bigger outer box and all the packing materials added to the freight quote! This is usually added to the Handling Charge which becomes part of the shipping quote. Customs & Value Declaration: The price the items sells at is the price entered for Declared Value. To do otherwise is tax fraud. We reserve the right to cancel international bids if there are too many hassles involved in shipping! We do NOT ship international by postal service (USPS) EXCEPT in flat rate boxes, please don't ask us to make an exception for YOU. Lack of Interest: We often list odd or esoteric items of interest only to a small or select group, most of our items have a low open price to cover our cost of listing the item. Usually we are losing money when we list these items, but hope there is someone out there who wants and or needs it. If you want this, please don't just watch it, start the bidding so I know there is real interest. Otherwise it might end up being canceled and you'll miss out. When Canceled or removed the items go to the recycle station! If you want it, bid the open which often barely covers the listing cost! As always, you will determine the value of this item, the open is low and you can have some fun bidding on it and maybe get a bargain! Combining Items: Combining small items is easy and cheap, usually add $1 or so for each additional lightweight item in the same box. Electronics components ship in individual boxes so there is no freight savings. Speakers usually ship in more than one box, caveats for shipping costs will be in the main description. Payment and Terms: We only accept PayPal or cash with local pickup. We do not accept any other electronic payments or credit cards. We do not accept personal checks for any item. All Sales Are Final and items are sold “As Is and Shown.” Call 480)946-8128 Tuesday>Friday 12-5 MST, or send me a message through eBay with questions before bidding. Messages are NOT always replied to on Sunday and Monday. Invoices are sent by Tuesday after the sale closes. Please be patient, it will come. Payment must be received promptly after invoice date or item will be re-listed and a Non-Performance complaint filed with eBay! No Excuses! Don’t bid if you can’t pay! If your computer crashes all the time, print the description of the item and CALL! Repeat: There are no excuses to not start closing procedure in 3 (three) days and conclude the transaction in a week or so! Local Pickup: Local pickup is allowed during normal store hours. State and local sales taxes (9.3%) must be collected. Warranty: All Sales Are Final and As Is and Shown. This means: All items are tested unless mentioned otherwise. Electronics, due to time and age, are prone to failure from rough handling during shipment. We make no guarantee that they will work after shipment. MOST will, some will die from parts being shaken, broken or jarred during shipment and because of age they can fail. Keep in mind that the older it is or the more heat it generated during use, the more prone it is to failure. I wish this wasn't the truth, but we have had too many items work perfectly here at the store and fail shortly after being shipped. The freight company wants little or nothing to do with these kinds of claims either, so we have been forced to put this disclaimer of all items being sold with NO GUARANTEE back in the listings. Feedback: It is useless for us to post it with the new regulations for seller unless you give us positive and full five star ratings. Otherwise, feedback has become meaningless. If you have a problem with your item, please let us know BEFORE you post negative feedback. Serial Numbers: We will never give out the serial number of any piece of gear before the auction closes. We have valid legal reasons for refusing. Period. If you must have a serial number, we will give you all but the last two digits which will be specified as "nn" and it will NOT be included in the listing. Buy It Now: Please don't ask us to add it. Most of our sellers and buyers want the fun of an auction and the thrill of seeing where it will end up. Don't ask us to add a Buy It Now. It is not possible to do so once the auction has started. On Apr-12-13 at 08:42:01 PDT, seller added the following information: I had someone point out that the front fenders are for a 1967 model and that there are "several things wrong about the car" and I want to make sure that anyone bidding on this car is sure THEY know what they are bidding on. This is NOT a showpiece or art car restored to full concours or "as original condition." It is a driver, a car that is fun, reliable and easy to drive while retaining the character and style of the original. In the muscle car world that is a pro touring resto-mod, this ain't one of those either - it's a toy that is fun to drive, garners appreciation and looks when on a cruise and simply made to have fun with. And all of the mods are well thought out, tastefully executed and work well together. The big thing is it is reliable - with the HEI ingnition, alternator, new tires and all the mechanicals working correctly, it's a gas to drive and still as reliable as the name Volkswagen implies and more so with newer technology added. The seatbelts and harnesses add safety to the mix too! On Apr-20-13 at 13:14:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Lowered reserve to $9999 Saturday 4/20/13. Had the seat adjuster fixed on Friday, and they connected the radio - it works. Squeals going under the overpasses but it works! Horn came Saturday and I will put it on Sunday morning. Take her home somebody! She's a great car and a real bargain.
