Vehicle Detail
It’s a great car but I want a 911 and can’t have both a 911 and a 928…. 1985 LH 310 HP Euro 16V 71K miles, original paint, no dents no rust. Unmolested, original with all records since original importer. Everything works 100%. The ONLY thing done to federalize this car was MPH speedo replacement. No bumperettes, no cats, no ugly side marker lights or US sealed beam headlights, etc. All original keys, long (for alarm), short, red and black. ROW owner’s manual in German and one in English. Original paint is excellent for a 28 year old car. Full leather interior is excellent but for typical leather shrinking around dash vents and some warpage in rear panels. Sport Seats are perfect. Has retractable luggage cover, luggage net, all tools as well as emergency triangle, spare, air pump and factory air gauge. All glass is perfect and original Sekurit windscreen has inner laminate. Being a MY 85 means it has the superior, smooth shifting Borg-Warner synchros, shorter shifter, TB warning light, no external antenna, newer style seats mounted lower with more headroom and modern fuses. HVAC is fully functional with the original R12 and blows cold. I bought the car in 2010, with 50K miles and it has NEVER let me down. Does not leak or drip any fluids whatsoever. The previous owner was meticulous and vigilant about preventive maintenance as I have been. I was planning to do the TB/WP before selling but couldn’t decide between a Porken Tensioner or the stock set up so I’ll leave that the next owner. This car has always been garaged and has done ~20K miles since 2002 when the WP/TB was last serviced. I’ve inspected it yearly and adjusted it only once after a high RPM warning light due to belt flutter. Due to the length of time since the last service, not so much the miles, it’s time for a service. As you know, MY85 ROW 16V should be considered interference motors due to the higher compression pistons versus earlier models. Because the LH Euros are so special, and this one is so well optioned, I felt keeping it all stock is the best way to preserve its long term value, which I feel will increase in the future. Therefore, the only non-stock items are: Rectangular analog clock from 1990-1995 928S4 996 Turbo Twist II, 18” wheels, 8 and 10” with Hankook Ventus V12s. (Set of stock manholes included) Porsche/Becker CDR-210 Stereo w/stock appearing ADS speakers Bilstein Sport Shocks 25mm aluminum, rear wheel spacers Known issues: TB/WP needs replacement. Air Pump needs rebuilding, has been disconnected, I have new bearings for it. A small nick in the leather, rear console. One rear wheel stud is broken, I have replacement. 3 very slight body indentations that can only be seen in person. PDR is an option. The state of Massachusetts does not recognize WPO ZZZ VINS so this car has a Mass VIN since importation. I believe it’s only ever been registered in Massachusetts. Grundy Classic Car Insurance with full coverage and $15,000 agreed value is only $200/yr.
