Vehicle Detail
1959 Edsel Ranger 2 door hardtop - 292 Automatic with power steering - 58, 572 miles. This car is a survivor. Previous owner purchased the car in 1961. He maintained it throughout the years as original as possible. The 58,572 miles on the 292 two barrel engine and two speed transmission are all original. The interior is complete and all original. The black cloth seats have the "Edsel horse collar" print. The driver side of the front seat is worn through. The other seat cushions and backs are good. The headliner is perfect. Front Carpet is good, rear carpet shows wear. Door panels and rear seat panels are very good. The glass is very good throughout the car. The paint on the dash is great and the gauge cluster is clear. The overall body is very solid and the paint is good. To keep up the great appearance, the paint has been touched up over the years. I found 4 small patches;bottom of the right and left front fender, and in front of both rear wheel housings. All other panels are original and solid. Yes, some age spots are visible, but it is a 54 year old car. There are a few paint chips on the roof, a 2 inch square of surface rust on the deck (CB antenna?) and small paint bubbles at a few of the moldings. I tried to highlight these few flaws in the pictures but they were to small to show up. The engine runs great and the trans shifts smooth, nothing obvious to indicate a problem. I would recommend new tires; the bias ply tires on the car are at least 10 years old. Again, IT IS A SURVIVOR, a solid 54 year old car that is complete and has not been altered. You can be proud of this car the way it is. According to the EDSEL PRICE GUIDE this is considered a "collectible car".
