Vehicle Detail
This is a very stock 1970 Dodge Dart Custom 4 door slant 6 car. It is a very nice car and I don't want to sell it, but life has changed and there are new priorities I need to address. I bought this car 9/19/11 and I have reciepts for the work I have done on it so far. 9/21/11 4 new tires $321.96. 9/25/11 new set of lug nuts $30.99. 9/28/11 tune up $97.15 for parts which I installed. 10/23/11 new choke thermostat $25.00. 10/28/11 complete exhaust system from the manifold back $310.50. 3/26/12 replaced dash cluster/voltage stabilizer to deal with broken guages and replaced windshield post gaskets to deal with leak to the interior $78.00 for parts. 4/22/12 replaced valve cover, oil pan and trans pan gaskets $21.99 for parts. 4/28/12 replaced windshield gasket $100.94 for parts. 4/29/12 replaced dimmer switch and u-joints $20.30 for parts. 5/6/12 I removed the trans and had it inspected and sealed and then I reinstalled it. $115.13 for the inspection and reseal. 5/8/12 replaced idler arm $24.19 for parts. I did a lot of the work on this car myself, so the work above would have been much more expensive if you include the labor The vin is LH4 C0E 151 518 which decodes to: L carline=Dodge Dart H price class=high 41 body type=4 door sedan C engine=225 1 barrel 0 model year=1970 E production plant=Los Angeles, CA 151518 sequence number The gas guage still does not read correctly. This is the next thing I will fix if I keep the car. I am not sure the mileage is correct, I am going by what the guy I bought it from told me. The car requires pumping the gas and cranking for a bit to start it after it has sat for a few days. It also requires a couple of minutes to warm up before it runs smoothly. Once it warms up, it is butter. This car cruises like a dream down the highway. This car also has AC, but I have not charged it yet to see if it works. It does not get that hot that often where I live, so I just roll down the windows. I also paid to have the car professionally buffed out to get rid of oxidation that was there when I got the car. It is much better, but may need another buff and then wax or a repaint eventually. There are small nicks and dents on the car, but nothing major. Since the car was buffed, I have kept it in the garage. The radio is not stock. There is an AM/FM casset deck in the car and the dash was not hacked. I do have a stock radio that I bought that can go with the car if you want to go back to that. It is AM only. The reason for the new lug nuts is because the place that did the tires did not realize that this year of Dart has left hand thread on the drivers side of the car, so what they thought was loosening was actually tightening and the ended up hogging out a few holes in the wheels and rounding off some of the lug nuts. To make this more complicated, somehow the drivers side hub was on the passenger side, so I am sure this confused them even more. I ended up finding a good set of wheels locally to replace those that had been damaged. I took the time to move the left hand hub back to the drivers side of the car and repack the bearings and inspect the brakes. All is good now.
