Vehicle Detail

This is a 1987 blue BMW K75T motorcycle with only 6,251 original miles. Really. I bought it new from the BMW motorcycle dealer in San Jose, CA, in April, 1987. I rode it around San Francisco and North Carolina after I moved there and round trip to Hilton Head, Asheville, and Montreal. In 1991 I got transferred to England and put the bike in rented indoor storage in Atlanta. I did the full winter storage service before storing the bike. In September, 1994, I moved it to my climate controlled basement garage in Alpharetta, GA, where it remains until today. I took the battery out in 1994, and I haven’t made any attempt to re-install a battery or bring it back to life. I kept it clean and out of the way, and kept the tire pressures up, and it looks showroom new. It was running perfectly when I stopped riding it in North Carolina, but it hasn’t been started in 21 years. I’m not aware of anything that needs attention. The bike is bone stock except for an aftermarket Corbin Seat with matching blue piping. You can see from the photos I still have the original owner’s manual, tools, first aid kit, and sales brochure. While the bike has been continuously insured, it hasn’t been titled or registered for the road in all the years it was in storage. Based on all the foregoing, the bike is for sale “As Is”, with no warranty. However, the bike may be inspected at any time with a day’s notice in Alpharetta, GA by you, your representative, or your mechanic. I am willing to ship the bike anywhere, buyer pays shipping. This is an early horizontal water cooled three cylinder with 750cc capacity. The engine is amazingly smooth. A new BMW F800GT costs $12,000 so here is an opportunity save some big money! Subject to prior sale. On Apr-18-13 at 10:58:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Update to Bike's Condition. This week I added fresh, conditioned fuel, installed new plugs, and hooked up a battery. The engine spun energetically but didn't start. I pulled a plug, grounded it, and turned the engine over and the spark is good. The plug was bone dry and no fuel came spitting out of the cylinder with the missing plug, so fuel isn't getting to the combustion chamber. Next I'm going to inspect and replace the fuel filter and see if that's where the blockage is.On Apr-19-13 at 07:31:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Further Update to Bike's condition: I had a motorcycle expert and fellow K75 owner come by last night. He turned on the ignition and didn't hear any activity from the fuel pump (sits below the tank in pretty clear view). He said a whirring sound is normal as it pumps, and mine was dead silent. His diagnosis is therefore that it needs a fuel pump. He went on to say it would be prudent to change the fuel filter as well. Additionally he recommends all the fluids be changed (motor oil, final drive oil, coolant, and brake fluid). And the bike still needs a battery.
