Vehicle Detail

1986 BMW 635 CSI – 5 speed manual w/ only 118,000 miles! VIN WBAEC7409G0607778 Up for sale is a solid, black 1986 BMW 635 CSI in great condition. BMW has 118,000 miles and had ~$5000 in service in the past few months. Recent service of BMW Inspection II (per manufacturer recommendations); the work performed by Oldwick Village Garage and Eurosport of Westfield, NJ includes the following: - Remove upper and lower timing covers, oil pan, clean up oil leaks, replace gaskets and seals - Replace all v-belts - Check camshaft, adjust valves, replace plugs and wires - Remove, wash and repack both left rear c/v joints and replace boots - Replace thermostat, fill and bleed cooling system, replace coolant level sensor - Replace hood shock and intake bellows - Replace Motronic DME Control Module and oxygen sensor connectors - Replace driveshaft (with remanufactured one), subframe bushings, and differential mounts - Replace battery This BMW was purchased used from a dealer in Southern California in 2004 and was a California car until December of last year when I brought it back East. I hate to see this BMW go, but I need a new daily driver for the work commute. I will probably regret selling this 635 as much as I did my 1972 BMW 2002 years ago! The car is not in mint condition but really is a headturner. With the recent service, the car has no outstanding mechanical issues. It has been in the garage for the winter and new owner will have to register the car (expired recently). These 6-series BMW’s are super fun to drive and constantly get compliments. With the recent repairs, the car should be a steady daily driver for years to come or would make a good candidate for restoration. ITEMS IN NEED OF REPAIR: Cruise control (I never used it so I wasn’t interested in repairing), AC, and radio. Cosmetically, the car has minor issues that could be addressed. The front nose was dented years ago and can be seen in the pictures. The BMW emblems on hood and trunk show wear. Two of the BMW hubcaps were stolen years ago. Front dash has cracks typical of a car of this age. Driver side seat has wear, but no rips in the leather; remaining leather is in great shape. Headliner is in above average shape with no rips, tears or sagging (same for the carpet). The vinyl around the sun visors could be replaced. There are small paint dings on the hood and roof mostly (I can photograph them up close to show the extent if needed). Front spoiler has some cracks and wear. On Apr-06-13 at 19:12:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I've gotten many questions about the car since the auction started. Here is some additional information:- Car was repainted, I believe, before I purchased it in 2004. The paint is not perfect, and does have blemishes and a few dings. I would grade the paint as above average to above average.- Power controls (windows, sunroof, seats) are working. Power locks need repair. The trunk lock works after 6 or 7 turns, but it only locks driver's side door. The power lock on driver's side does not work.- Dash has some cracks, about 4 or 5 that extend from base of dash at window to the edge (closest to driver). They are narrow, maybe 1/8" wide, but they are present.- The vinyl on the sun visors is pulling and shows some of the cushion beneath the vinyl and around the passenger side mirror. I would imagine new owner would want to replace these.- Back seats look new and the leather is not worn. Driver's seat is in decent shape, front passenger's seat is above average shape.- The dent on the nose can be seen in pictures; it doesn't look terrible but someone did bang it pretty good (probably a truck or something).- The spoiler is intact but has some cracks and shows wear. Hope that helps. On Apr-08-13 at 06:38:24 PDT, seller added the following information: I started the car up last night for the first time in awhile. It had a ticking noise from the engine. This noise wasn't there when I had the car serviced most recently. It may need a tuneup/valve adjustment.Just wanted to let bidders know in advance. Let me know if you have any questions.
