Vehicle Detail
I'm selling a used 1999 BMW 323ic convertible. Ok, as you can see i have been a Ebayer since 1999 and i have a perfect rating. I have never sold a car before on Ebay here...so, I will try to be as detailed as possible. - I'm not the original owner...i bought from a coworker of mine last year. It had problems even as i bought it from him...my initial plan was to fix it up, but i don't have the time or the know-how to do it. I think this car is a great potential project. Ok...let me start off by saying...this car DRIVES nicely...yes...even today...it will start and go no problem. I still use this car to go to work at least once a week. So, let me list the mechanical and cosmetic issues below (I'm going to be as honest and as thorough as i can... but I can't guarantee all issues are listed...just because you may find more or i may miss them...but I'm going to be up front and honest) Issues First- Soft Top does not work...don't know what's wrong with it (maybe the motor...maybe the sensors)...My original plan was to permanently lower it and only use it on sunny days...it's a good looking car.- Soft Top externally in decent shape... But interior needs some love...some of the mechanics are showing--especially on the sides...it holds up fine...but aesthetically not great looking on the inside. The top seals good enough where light rain wouldn't be an issue...but pouring rain or prolonged rain situation would get you some wet inside. - One side of the external trim is missing (see exterior pic)- Air Bag light is on...not sure the issue- Check Engine Light just recently turned on last week. I think it's a sensor or something...(possible culprit...i noticed the rubber hose connecting the Air filter to the engine has a crack...maybe losing some pressures) The engine drives/sounds as usual -- no problems while driving...still strong/responsive...and no weird sounds. And a few months ago it recently went to the shop...and the Mechanic said your Engine is great. - Radio works...but i think amplifier doesn't work...so no sound. - Overall interior's gonna need a lot of love...the inside door handles' frames are off...as you can see in the pictures...There are rust on seat rails under the seats. Carpet needs deep cleaning too. Basically, little things here and there...door panels need to button up better, etc. it depends how "pretty" you want the inside to look will dictate the amount of fixing.- Cracked rubber seals around trunk...interior again. - The Stick Shift knob should be replaced...loose (the good thing is...it's loose and when you want to replace...you don't have to struggle to pull the knob off...just buy one and pop in in -- you can find one for less than $20 on Ebay) Good- All powered windows...work no issue (surprisingly)- Overall Drives very nicely...get-up-go-speed! The Manual transmission really spices thing up a bit. - Car paint job...in my opinion...AWESOME... you can see in the pictures...for a car that's going on 14 years...paint is unbelievable - I think A/C works fine...heats up and cools down- No cracks on any windows or windshield- I believe i have a clean title...(I just got it titled to me...and DMV gave me no issues...quick)- Trunk is fairly clean...got some rust spots on the carpet in truck...and needs to "bottom up" better...but in fairly good shape (with spare tire and etc)- Power rear view mirrors work fine- Power locks work fine- Seat Belts, wipers work fine. - Seats don't have tears that i can see Other Info- Only 1 key... SHIPPING- Buyer is responsible for all transportation/shipping cost. I hope you can come pick up...that way...it will save you money that you can put into fixing this car... If you decide to ship...i can help you find a shipper...i recently shipped two cars (one to the dealer and the other from the dealer for a new car that i bought)...so, i have a very good relationship with a shipper. ALL Sales Final...and Sold As Is- I know there's a degree of risk buying a used car without inspecting it yourself...but know that you can ask me any questions...and I'll do my best to respond to you. I have never received a bad rating off Ebay...and i intend to keep it that way. It drives great (in my opinion)...but interior aesthetically needs love.I sincerely believe there's a lot miles left in this car...and it deserves someone who's willing to spend time/heart to restore it as much as possible. I'm definitely not out to make any money...hence, i list this car without any reserve price...and at this price point...after all the Ebay fees...i won't have much leftover...but I just want this car to go to a good home. thanks...and pls only serious buyer only On Mar-27-13 at 19:17:07 PDT, seller added the following information: MORE Good INFO- The Ceiling...it's NOT sagging at all...very tight inside or outside (see added picture) -- The "loose" part is on the side behind the rear windows (see added picture)- I took a better look at the Seats' Leather or Leatherette...they are actually in very good shape...the pictures actually make them look older. They are just dusty...i'm sure just using Armor All can clean them up and make them shine again. No Tears that i saw...- CRUISE Control Works fine...no problem- To be honest...i think the interior isn't as bad as i made it to be...if you just clean it up and glue those plastic frames around inside door handles and around the seatbelt retractors...it looks actually pretty good. Florida Registration vs California...someone asked about this: The Car is in California...I kept my Florida Registration because of my job, federal law allows me to keep my home state's license plate. Thanks for all the questions/interests...On Mar-28-13 at 20:57:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked about the lights: I checked all the lights today...including interior lights, headlights, lane change lights, high beam, reverse lights, hazards, trunk lights... Only issue i found is one brake light is out. Someone asked about tires, brakes, clutch? Don't know how to check clutch...but it feels strong...like my other new manual car...no problem. Brake pad, if I'm looking at the right thing...it looks thick and car stops on a dime...NO Squeechy sound. As for tires...they look great...deep threads. Keep the questions coming. Again, the car drives great...start/stop/drives great. Handles like a BMW... thanks for your interests On Mar-29-13 at 23:23:49 PDT, seller added the following information: ** NEW INTERIOR PHOTOS (CHECK OUT THE LAST 2 PHOTOS) -- I spent just 5 minutes using leather wipes and clean up the interior a bit to show that they are actually in decent shape -- Please check out the last 2 photos and see how decent the interior actually look. (I cannot delete previous posted pictures...so, you can see the HUGE difference between no cleaning and just a few min of cleaning) ** Some info about the Air Bag Light -- There's actually another '99 323ic on sale on Ebay right now by another user...he/she mentioned about the Air Bag light being quite a common problem due to passenger side seat belt tensioner. He/she also mentioned Engine Light and something about cleaning the air flow mass and was able to solve the problem. I'm NOT saying these conditions are the ones 'causing my car's fault lights to come on...but just as possible culprits since as i posted earlier that there's a crack in the rubber hose connecting the air filter. Again...just illustrating not diagnostic. ** Someone asked about exterior paint/dents/scratches--Paint job is amazing...no obvious dents that i can see...it's in great shape. Only one small rust spot near the trunk...and it's mostly hidden by the trunk door. ** i forgot to mention...you can see in a few pictures that the A/C vent above the center console - one of the vent levers is broken (the lever things that you adjust A/C air flow directions). That's about it...thank you! On Mar-30-13 at 10:44:36 PDT, seller added the following information: ** This car has generated a lot of interests...THANK YOU. However, i just want to remind all bidders that please only bid if you are serious in going through with the transaction -- and you must make full payment within 7 days. Please get in touch with me as soon as the auction ends...as I'll do the same. Please ask all your questions now...auction ends in a few days. thank you On Mar-30-13 at 23:23:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked about if there are fluid leakages: With regards to leaks...i don't think there are any. All fluids, at the moment, are at the right level...i checked the oil stick and the transmission fluid reservoir. Plus, i never find any fluid on garage floor. thanks for your interests. On Mar-31-13 at 12:33:50 PDT, seller added the following information: SHIPPING: Like i said in earlier post that i have a grt relationship with a shipper. I got some rough quotes for you guys/gals...coast to coast is between $900-$1100...and say from my house to Washington State about $700 (I can help you get a grt price with my shipper). Of course, there could be situation where it will cost a little more due to Tolls in your neck of woods or your place is "really out there"...but i'm pretty confident that it will be really close. Two times shipping my cars...the estimates were spot on. thanks On Apr-02-13 at 08:23:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone asked this:"Hi I just did car fax on your bmw and autocheck shows a accident impact on left front of the car do you know if it was frame damaged or just front end was replaced including the drivers door ? Thanks in advance" My Response:"I am not aware of any...if it had an accident before...it must have been before 2005. My coworker/friend (we are war buddies) wouldn't lie to me about that...he's owned it since 2005...and paid ~$19500 for it at that time. I can't tell if it did or not...body doesn't show at all...it's a beauty." Just want to be completely honest about the question asked and my response...
