Vehicle Detail
Overview Immediately enjoy this original unrestored series 2 jaguar 2+2 e-type xke. This car is solid. She is ready to drive away. This jaguar has been in California throughout her life and she suffered very little rust. Better than a barn find, this sports car has been thoroughly gone through, but left unrestored and as original as possible. This sports car is a joy to drive and runs great. This Jaguar is a Matching Numbers car. The chassis, engine, and transmission numbers match the production plate. As the car had sat idle, many of the mechanical systems have been recently rebuilt or serviced to be road worthy. Everything is working except the clock, which does not keep time. Being all original and unrestored, a repaint, some body rubber and seals, and interior work would take her to the next level. The car has been in my family for over 30 years. Title is clean and clear and the California registration is paid until December 2013. Mechanical This jaguar is in overall mechanically good condition. As this car sat idle for over a decade, it was disassembled over the past year to inspect, rebuild and refresh the mechanical systems. These systems include the cooling, charging, ignition, fuel, brakes and transmission. New tires were purchased and worn bushings were replaced. Shortly before the car was set aside in the 1990's the motor was rebuilt by the previous owner when the odometer rolled over. The transmission had also been rebuilt during the previous ownership. The result is a solid car that runs and drives very well. Wipers and washer are fully functioning. The Lucas horns are new. Chassis and Body Having spent its life in California, this jaguar body is exceptionally solid. The paint looks original, but may have had one overspray over the original coat. With the exception of a front fender that was dented in a parking lot, there doesn’t appear to have ever been a significant accident which is also supported by the fact that she drives and handles so well. Rust has been mostly minimal and cosmetic. There is one small rust spot in each rear wheel well, and there was rust in the spare tire wheel well that was repaired. Body Work To Perform Since the car is so solid, it is a great base to perform a full restoration. The next stage in restoring this car would be to address the bodywork, paint, and trim. Since the door, window, and other body seals and gaskets should be replaced, it would be ideal to perform this all at once. Interior The interior in this jaguar is all original. It’s functional despite its age. Being original and over 40 years old, assume the leather and vinyl is dry and aged while the foam is generally aged and friable. The rear seats are fine. In terms of work to be done, the roof liner will have to be replaced because it was removed. The dash pad, center arm rest, and front seats should be recovered to be like new. Both the Heater and AC are working as well as the gauges and interior lights. The clock does not keep time but lights up. Accident History During the past 30 years of ownership, the car is not known to have ever been in a moving accident. There was one incident where the driver's side bonnet fender was dented by a driver in a parking lot in the 1980's while the jaguar was parked. The repair is the area where the paint is chipping in the photos. Sale Terms and Buyer Inspection This car is being sold As-Is with no warranty made express or implied.
