Vehicle Detail
I’m selling my mustang that I bought in high school. I’m sorry if my add and photos are not as good as most of them I see here but selling cars is not my job, although I must sell this one, now. No time to play. I bought the car 35 years ago from the first owner in 1977. It had 12k or so, miles on it. He had an organization that was racing it (Chem-Guard / Radkie’s) with a Cuda’ and an AMX, all painted the same....lavender, no wonder their gone! The engine and trans, seats and carpet were gone but the body was perfectly straight with no rust or damage repair. There was a roll bar bolted in and there is a small hole in the trunk floor were a battery cable had passed through, otherwise it did not even have a door dent. The car has ever sat outside overnight, since it was painted. I restored the interior and other missing parts by purchasing a damaged car, which happened to be another “R” code car, back in 1980. It was also missing the engine, but it had the seats, door Panels, shaker, bumper jack, etc. Don’t ask why it has one speaker cut out. I don’t know. The dash is original and was not changed. It has the 9” inch traction lock with a big “N” cast into the front of it, and has the oil cooler, adapter and moved horn. It still has a close ratio manual steering set up that lavender guys instaled. I retained the pump, ram, box, brackets and all rest of the power steering parts from the other car, but I have not installed them. The front brakes had been removed so I installed the power front disc set up from the donor as well. All the parts on this car were purchased before 1982 or 83 and are all oem. The are no re-pop parts or any thing that is not original ford, except the molded carpet, which they wouldn’t sell me. I had it painted Acapulco Blue and bought wheels and tires new. The tires still have the fuzz on the tread face but the wheels have started rust some. There was no internet in 1982 and I could not find the right motor, so I put in a 302/C4 just so I could drive it around a little. I renewed the license tags when they came up in 1985, but by then had been sitting for 2 years and I never drove it again. I had removed the battery and covered it with old blankets. I left it there in the garage and played with my kid’s until they were gone. It sat in the garage, as you see it, for almost thirty years, unfinished. That’s why some of the trim pieces are missing. I have them, still in boxes but was missing various screws or what not, at the time. I’m moving now and did not know my car was not going to following me, so the missing bit’s went on ahead, but everything is included, as well as many spares from the donor R. I’ll discount the purchase price, until they return. I’m also including a 428 CJ that I found at a garage sale, about 10 years ago. It’s a complete 1969’ motor dated C8 with all the alternator, distributer, belts and pulleys and such but not the little balancer thing. It has the reinforced webs cast into the block and I looked into one of the soft plug holes and the cylinders are real close together so it should be the right block, but the markings are real vague. It does not have lemans rods and the crank is a 1U. It has forged pistons and looks very fresh but should be inspected. I have the flex plate and drive shaft but I do not have a transmission. The 302 / C4 is still in the car at this time, but I am removing it and will supply photos of the underside and engine bay before end of sale. The car is undercoated, no rust or dents, but not pretty. Circumstances are such that I will never be able to finish this as I had hoped. I purchased it because it was the only one I could afford and I cared for it all these years because I think it’s unique. There are not that many cars left that have all their original body panels in near perfect, un rusted condition. It will not take some one with the resources very much effort to finish sorting it out. One of you guys will find the rest of the missing drive train bits and clean up the stuff I missed and you will have very nice old car. This is going to be a very short, no reserve sale because I need to cover other obligations. If you can’t afford to buy this car, please don’t bid on it. If you win, a deposit will be expected immediately and the balance within days, not weeks. Storage can be arranged and pick up is the responsibility of the buyer. I can load it on a transport or deliver within 100 miles. Do not make an offer and then say, the check is coming, I’ll sell it to the next guy immediately. I have no time to dance around with this. You are welcome to ask questions, but that’s about all I know. You are also welcome to inspect it or send someone to do it for you. I’ll make it available 24 hours, until end of sale. I will also send photos directly or call you if you so request, and supply that that info. Good luck to us both.On Mar-12-13 at 00:32:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello again I'm sorry to say I have failed. I have a large number of photos available but ebay will not let me add more nor replace what is there. However, if your interested enough to send me a note, there is, I noticed, an "attache photos" icon on the e-mail tool bar. Or, I will be glad to send you the new photo album through regular e-mail. I am at your service, for a while longer. Discussions I have had so far are all about what is and what is not included in this sale, so I will try and recap and better describe what I know about the condition of the car. I have in my posession and will turn over the complete SCJ oil cooler, lines, adapter and brackets. The FE 428 I described obove with alternator, fuel pump, distributer, flex fan, water pump and brackets, flex plate and pully's, the OEM rear deck lid spoiler, the rear end and drive line that the car came with, the shifter link rod, the correct, original big block air filter can and shaker mounting plate, the entire power steering set up including hose support brackets and mounting hard ware pump and it's brackets. The braking system, master, wheel cylinders and calipers were all new and the pedal feels good. It came with the tilting "fly away" steering column and rim blow wheel but what ever it was that pull's the cable, under the dash is not there. The clock works and it even keeps time (if you adjust it properly). The big block radiator and front springs are intact, the big block inner fenders are not cracked or bent or rusted out, I have, in nice usable condition, every single trim piece you see missing + some extras. I have the original radio and original telescoping antenna. The car has 70' bolt in side windows and nice tight regulators. I will also include the original 69' glue in windows. The E brake cable is new and works properly, the door hinges are not loose, the front aprons are not bent cracked or rusted out, the shocks are all new and rears are the classic "air shocks" with the shrader behind the licens plate. The car was deliverd to seattle, then sold at the Ford dealer here in Tigard. It then lived in Yamhill until I got so it has never seen a salted road. The exhust system is not usable. The electricle system had no fault that I'm aware of. It has nice thick OEM sound deadning carpet pads in place. The heater blower, windshield wipers and lights all work fine. This car is not a painted and polished turd that needs restoration. it's a nice car that has some parts missing.
