1967 Datsun 1600 Roadster VIN # SPL311-09041 Engine # R-27901 Up for sale is a beautiful Datsun 1600. This car has been in Arizona most, if not all, its life and is very solid. This 1600 was purchased in the early 90s by the owner of one of the largest Datsun/Nissan dealers in the world for his personal collection. In the mid 90s the same owner had his Nissan dealership restore the car for him. The car has seen less than 750 miles since the restoration and has been properly maintained, as it was part of his collection. This 1600 had thousands of dollars invested into it and it really shows! This Datsun Roadster is ready to enjoy. The Datsun S/SP cars are Datsuns entry into the "Sports" market and the predecessor the the legendary Z cars!!! It is in excellent condition and will surely make its new owner happy. Click to enlarge This roadster is finished in Datsun Red and looks stunning. This 1600 has been in dry Arizona and is rust free with no sign of ever having accident damage. The car appears to retain its original floor pans. It was painted when the car was restored and has seen less than 750 miles since. The car was completely taken apart and properly painted. This was a high dollar paint job and it really shows. When the car was reassembled, all new weather stripping and rubber seals were installed. All of the panel gaps line up as they should. The glass is in great shape with no pitting or cracks. All of the chrome and bright work were done at the same time. There is one very small bubble spot at the bottom of the drivers rear fender shown in the pictures. A brand new set of Yokohama tires were just installed. Overall, the exterior of this Datsun is in excellent condition. The beautiful tan interior was done during the restoration and shows like new. The seats are very supportive and feel great to sit in. The carpet is in excellent condition with very little signs of wear. The dash and door panels show little to no wear at all. The convertible top is in great shape with no tears or cracks. The windows are easy to see out of and are not yellowing. The top does show a little wear around some of the snaps. The interior is completed with a later model Datsun 2000 Roadster steering wheel that feels great in your hands. A Datsun cassette radio was added and works as it should. The dashboard features the correct black faced with chrome ring gauges with all gauges working. The windows operate as they should. The interior of this car is in superb condition and is a great place to spend the weekend driving up your favorite twisty roads! Mechanically the car is as good as it looks. The engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration and has seen less than 750 miles since then. Since the car was in a private collection, it was looked after and properly maintained while not being driven. The car does not leak. The Datsuns 1600 engine has plenty of power to accelerate this light weight car with ease. The engine is mated to a 4speed transmission that shifts great through all the gears. The suspension was gone through with all the bushings replaced. This is a great running and driving car that never skips a beat. The steering is nice and tight. The brakes feel great and the car stops with ease. Overall, this car is mechanically sound and ready to be driven. The Datsun is an excellent weekend toy or daily driver. This is a great chance to own a very nice 1600 at a reasonable price before they sky rocket like early Japanese Sports cars are starting to!
