Presenting this 100% Original 1957 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD With 74,171 Original Miles And No Reserve Price! Please allow time for all 70 photos to load and carefully inspect as cars such as this rarely come along. Probably the greatest, most rapid evolution of automobile design occurred in the 1950’s and American manufacturers were leading the pack by a country mile. Detroit celebrated the NASA program; designing flamboyant bodies that resembled rocket ships. Soon they would rule the nation's new Interstate highways. Five decades later, these iconic fin-mobiles of the Fabulous Fifties are highly sought-after collectors' items. 1957 was a great year for Cadillac. With stylemaster Harley Earl's reign about to end, the division managed to design and build some of the cleanest, most well-balanced luxury automobiles ever to come out of Detroit. Among aficionados, these '57s--including the phenomenal Fleetwood--are thought to be the quintessential Cadillacs, not the garish '59s. Retaining strong design cues like gullwing front bumpers topped by rubber-tipped Dagmars that mimic exaggerated artillery shells and eggcrate grilles, they were the final evolution of Earl's original tailfin style.'57 Caddys were voluptuous but not excessive. Today, these 19ft long dinosaurs attract people like honey attracts bears. Literally! Lavishly equipped, this fifty-seven comes with the legendary 4-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, 6-way power seat, power windows, power steering, power brakes, AM radio with rear speaker and power antenna . . . you name it. Ocean liner sized steering wheel has a Cadillac crest in the horn button. This sedan is not only unusually well equipped; it comes with an exceptional provenance. In 2009, it was presented by Barrett Jackson as 100% original condition, miles and ownership when sold in Las Vegas, NV. Here’s the link: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=628&aid=303#sthash.QQ3EuVo2.dpuf Since then, the owner has kept it among his estate collection in Anaheim Hills, CA, where it has remained garaged, covered and babied, only driven on a few occasions including a prominent, local wedding. In addition to the standard hydraulic window lifts and power steering, this Cadillac is equipped with the finest options a wealthy customer could specify on the order sheet, over half a Century ago. Among them are: · Dunlop Gold Seal “78” Wide Whitewall Tires · Power Brakes · Autronic Eye (Automatic Headlight Dimmer) · Four-Way Adjustable Power Seat (Currently Not Working) · E-Z-Eye Tinted Safety Glass · Wonderbar AM Radio with Rear Speaker & Power Antenna · Heating & Ventilation System Do we have your attention? Very well, then, let's have a closer look. You'll rarely encounter more beautifully preserved, all original coachwork. Certainly not on a car that's over half a Century old! The body appears free of filler ("bondo"), arrow straight, with perfectly aligned doors and hoods. There is no corrosion to be found, either. This Cadillac bears the mute, ineffable dignity of a truly original treasure; we'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Black is the behemoth's original color, as evidenced by the factory color code (No. 10) on its cowl tag. Accented by gleaming chrome trim, the nitrocellulose lacquer finish is amazingly lustrous; sensuous would perhaps be a more fitting description. Having been lovingly polished by hand, there are a few small spots where the original primer is starting to peek through, enhancing the fantastically authentic look of this genuine survivor. All the chrome is exquisitely preserved and gives testimony to Cadillac's superb build quality. Caddy rolls on stately, tubeless DUNLOP Gold Seal Sport 3½-inch-wide whitewalls of the dimension L78-15. Super shiny stainless Sombrero hubcaps make for a combination that is hard to beat! Equally as important as good looks and working mechanicals is what lies beneath the shiny surface. While we are close to the ground, let's get down on our knees to explore the state of things below, shall we? Befitting an always garaged Cadillac, everything looks wonderful down under. There's only minor surface rust with no prior repairs, or any other nasty surprise in evidence. Let’s have a peak under the hood. The 8-cylinder power plant and engine compartment are as clean as you could wish for; no untoward noise or excessive oil spoils the great first impression! Matching its impressive stature, the Cad is powered by its factory original, 365 cubic inch Kettering Vee Eight with no less than 300 horsepower. The folks at Rolls Royce would only whisper such a number but Americans proudly advertise it! What whispers is the engine; it purrs like a deliriously happy kitten, simultaneously convincing neophyte drivers with gobs of torque from idle to redline. They say there is no substitute for cubic inches. Right they are! Overall, the car’s mechanics exude pride of ownership. Apart from the usual replacement of consumables, extracurricular work was limited to preventative maintenance; mainly to the engine, its ancillaries, suspension and braking systems. Over the recent years, some hoses, belts and switches were replaced, carburetor was serviced, fuel lines cleaned and plugs renewed. No wear item has been left unattended; as a result, this classic Caddy is mechanically as strong as it is cosmetically. Speaking of cosmetics, let us stress how immaculate the body is, how sparkling the chrome, how glossy the paint: if you wouldn't know differently, you'd think to be looking at a 6-year-old, not a 56-year-old car. This one is that clean! Now, let’s explore the Cadillac's inner beauty. Huge doors open wide for easy entry, revealing a most sumptuous interior. Not a restored show car, this Cadillac possesses something money can't buy: character. The interior is as delivered back in '57 and displays a lovely patina. There are minor stains or discoloring in the headliner, seats and carpet but that would be no reason to perform any major surgery. Perhaps a skilled detailer could clean most. The thick tread on the pedals is a testimony of the super low miles. The interior features a generous amount of space for six tall adults. An old car has to be allowed to age gracefully, and that's what happened here. Original dash top and door panels look to be wonderfully preserved, the plush carpeting is very presentable. Rear seat with huge center armrest looks original as well, 56 years old, not perfect in the most stringent meaning of the term, nonetheless perfect in our eyes. You can't bring back originality, at any price, no matter how hard you try. Caddy's dash is lavishly accented by chrome trim. Gauge cluster displays a beautiful symmetry, reminding us of the good old days, long before the General's accountants completely plasticized even the cars once considered to be The Standard of the World. Aside from the clock and fuel indicator, all the gauges and lights appear to be working, as does the power windows. Windshield wipers are vacuum operated and yes, they work as well. Even the Wonderbar AM radio still hums, once the tubes warm up! Headed for a better future with the Autronic Eye! Odometer here shows just 74,165 miles, previous owner testifies to be the car's original mileage. Big cars usually have big trunks, right? Bigger is better, we all know that, and this trunk swallows loads of stuff. What impresses even more is the well preserved original trunk lining. Note the spare wheel and the original jack in its receptacle, together with the correct red clip. Evidently, this is a car that has always been pampered, a fact that finds confirmation wherever we look. Original factory owner's manual and brochure are included as well. Driving the Cadillac is truly an adventure. Its impact on other motorists and pedestrians is incredible. The countless thumbs up and compliments you receive cruising through town prove that everybody loves the car! And speaking of cruising, that's what this car is made for. Feeling like the captain of a big cruise ship, the driver enjoys a commanding view of the highway. Caddy starts with ease, runs with the quietly burbling sound of a vintage pleasure boat. In 1957, the Cadillac Division could already count on 17 years of experience with automatic transmissions, and the 4-speed Hydramatic proves the point with smooth, almost imperceptible gear shifts. It may be half a Century old, but the big Cadillac is able to cruise along effortlessly at today's freeway speeds. Power steering and brakes make it easy to handle at any speed and help tremendously when parallel parking in tight spots. It silently surges forward with ease, shifts imperceptibly and glides on tarmac like an oceanliner on water. With its burbling dual exhaust, it even sounds like a big yacht and feels like you’re floating on a cloud. Infinitely superior to today's faceless, plastic bubble machines, driving a 1950's luxury sedan is a sublime experience. Once you've tasted the thrill, you'll be hooked for life. There are old cars, collector cars, and blue chip cars. A nicely preserved, original ‘57 Cadillac is a blue chip automobile, no doubt. It will continue to rise in value. Keep it in the family forever, like an heirloom, or sell it for a silly amount of money, a few years down the road. Most important, though, the pleasant memories generated driving and showing the epitome of American Fifties opulence will truly be priceless! We hope you enjoyed this journey back to the Fifties. Our black '57 Fleetwood is a proud survivor of that long-gone era, when a Cadillac truly embodied the "Standard of the World" in fine motoring. Today, this superb example certainly qualifies as one of the most desirable post-war collector cars. It still possesses a--very sexy--aura of power, wealth, and beauty and might indeed be one of the finest survivors of its kind in the entire World. It's a very satisfying feeling to have a big Cadillac in your garage, park it proudly in your circular driveway a la Elvis, take it for a Sunday drive, or display it at a car show.
