Vehicle Detail
Had to re-list under this category Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for auction is an all electric converted 2003 Ford Ranger with 45503 on the odometer. This is 158 miles more from the last time it was listed on EBAY. The reason I am re-listing this time around is due to my negligence. On a recent longer trip (28 miles round trip), which is more than I usually do...(My normal trip is usually under 10 miles round trip). I did not pay attention to the warnings paktrakr were giving to me regarding the battery pack. It turns out that I think I literally baked the batteries. The batteries are contained in a utility box and I have 2 little PC fans to circulate air in the battery box. Now I know this set up is not ideal as the heat really builds up on long trips. The batteries were originally located beneath the bed, but that wasn't an ideal location given the extended cab due to some cells being out of reach. The battery pack the was in the vehicle was 100ah lifepo4 cells and the charger is set up for that type. I am assessing how many batteries are lost as of this moment. I am individually charging them to see which ones are hold a charge. SO, BE AWARE, I WILL INCLUDE ALL BATTERIES I HAVE, DEAD OR ALIVE, BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE EXPECTED YOU WILL NEED REPLACEMENTS. I WOULD BID AS IF THIS VEHICLE HAS NO BATTERIES. When I originally listed, there was an issue of lack of power going up a hill. I was never fully convinced this was a controller issue, and might have been battery related. (The batteries are CHINA HIPOWER brand). My hope is that when new cells are installed, this may take care if the power issue going up a hill... but I cant be sure. The choice I have to make is to sell now and cut my losses, or replace batteries with the same lifepo4 cells at a significant cost to me which just will add to the money I have sunk in it, or go in a different direction and have less cost to convert to non lifepo4 cells, relocate the batteries, and get the charger reprogrammed. The info below comes from the prior listing on EBAY. This vehicle is PA state inspected until 3/2013 and is registered as a modified vehicle. On the straight away, I have no problem doing 55-60mph. As far as pulling amps, I had the truck at my local garage that performs the yearly state inspection, and put the truck on ‘blocks’ with resistance applied when necessary. An amp meter was hooked up and the draw at the controller only seemed to be around 250 amps, this should have been more. There were no loose connections to be found as that test was performed as well. I have over 25k into this The truck originally had the batteries located under the rear bed which tilts, but I re-located the cells to the tool box in back for better access. I will include the battery boxes that I had underneath and all other items that would go with the truck. I have several spare lifepo4 cells available that I will also throw in. I cant really give more info on amps drawn beyond what I saw at the garage... even though I have paktrakr, my setup allows for too much interference (I hooked the wires into a light switch type setup so I could turn them off).. Range distance is unknown as I use the truck only locally. Here is the list of major items on the truck: Curtis 1231C controller 100AH lifepo4 cells onboard truck - as of this listing, I do not have a final count that will hold a charge.. I'm hoping for at least half are still ok. Right now I have 18 batteries that seem to be ok , and I have many more to check yet. So at a minimum, these are worth by themselves 1500 bucks. Zivan NG3 charger for lifepo4 cells. paktrakr Warp 9 motor BMS is the BEQ1 (hot juice electric) RM3/4 fluid heater (for defroster) IOTA DC/DC converter The vehicle obviously has no warranty and is sold as is. So you should come inspect the vehicle before buying. 500 deposit is required at time of winning bid through paypal. Cash, or a verified cashiers check is due upon pickup. I'll be verifying the check before releasing vehicle, too many scams going on. If I can't verify that it is a legitimate check, don't bother. No, I am not shipping outside of the USA. No I am not accepting payment from a tow truck driver. I would think if you are bidding on a vehicle like this you want to look at it before buying. 1. I do not sit and watch the listing, if you ask a question, I will get back to you asap.2. You would need to tow the vehicle since the batteries are not installed.3. I don't need criticisms or dumb comments, I will report that to ebay as abuse. I have no problems answering legitimate questions.4. Pics I have posted are from the original listing. Note where the batteries WERE. They are not there now, I have removed all of them to test and charge where possible. My reserve is only 5000, which is more than fair considering what you are getting, even if you replace batteries.
