Engine The 1998 Honda TRX 250 Recon was equipped with a 229-cc, air-cooled, OHV, four-stroke engine with a single, sideways-mounted cylinder. The engine has a bore and stroke of 68.5 mm by 62.2 mm. The Recon used a shaft drive driveline and an automatic clutch. The TRX 250 featured 22-mm piston-valve carburetion and an electric starter with auxiliary recoil. The Recon also uses a capacitor discharge ignition with electronic advance This has been a very Good 4 wheeler for me. It needs some tlc, seat is tore, tires are worn and leak down over time. Carb. is replacement, but This ATV has been sitting behind my Shed for a year, and now it wont start. Just like all the other small engines i have that have been sitting, chain saw, pressure washer etc. I put a new carb,battery and plug wire/coil pack on this two seasons ago because it was hard to start. It ran great after that, but the kids are grown now, and i dont use it, so it has been sitting a lot. It will need new Plug, seat cover and carb work, maybe even fuel tank cleaned. When it starts, this thing runs great, no gear problems. Brakes squeak a lil bit, but stop afer use. Head lights all work .Like I said, a little love and this will make someone a nice ATV. I just brought the 4wheeler up, and put new spark plug, fresh gas and charged battery. started right up. but float is stuck in carb, and it is starving for fuel. Definetly needs new carb.
