Vehicle Detail

1987 Lotus Esprit Turbo with 29,758 original miles located in Seattle Wa. This is a classic Lotus and the last year of production for the S-2 series 4 cylinder turbo. This car has been well maintained during our ownership. We have just completed the following services, Timing belt and tensioners, water pump kit, spark plug wires, spark plugs, distributor cap, distributor pick up module, rotor, Ignition module, new Interstate battery, 02 sensors. Then we have totally rebuilt the turbo boost valve including new diaphragm, valve, spring and valve guide. We have installed a new radiator and required hoses, thermostat and gasket. The front wheel bearings have been repacked and the brakes checked. The front brakes are at 60%+-, the rears are 70%+-. We had a 4 way alignment completed as well. At this time there are no obvious signs of fluid leaks either oil or coolant. Compression is 135#+- across all 4 cylinders. This Lotus fires up quickly even after being in storage for an extended time. The clutch and transmission work well and it shifts very easily both up and down. The car tracks well on the road and brakes do not pull and stop as intended. Drive axles and boots are good and do not cause any weird or unusual noises when driving. The tires have 1000+- miles with 195-15’s on the front and 225-15’s on the rear. Note the photos of the wheels there is no curb rash they balanced easily and run true. The spare wheel and tire (not shown, is new original factory, and has never been on the ground. We do not have the factory jack or tool kit(if one came with the car?) Included are the original books and a master service manual as seen in the photos. The body shows no signs of previous accident damage. Doors fit and open and close tightly. The windows are electric and go up and down as designed the windshield is free of cracks, rock chips or blisters. The wiper works as designed. The electric mirrors both operate properly. The interior is very nice and clean and free of any rips or issues. The carpets are in excellent shape and there are factory logo floor mats (not shown in the photos). All gauges operate as well as dash lights. Heater system works and the A/C blows cold but I’m not sure if it blows as cold as it was designed. The sunroof has all its latches and fits and seals as intended. Headlights are electric pop ups and they work fine. There is a security/radar system installed (aftermarket?) but I have no idea if it really works. It does beep and seem to operate when the key is turned on. There are no obvious signs of underside damage from front to rear. The front hood and rear engine cover show no sign of previous damage. There are no signs of age cracking in any of the body panels, doors, or hoods. Here are the known issues with this car, the paint is original and while very good for a car of this age, there are some blemishes in other words it’s not 100% perfect. There is some wear on the leather boot for the e-brake handle as it is in the path of getting in and out of the car. There is a scrape in paint on the right rear corner (I scraped it while driving the car off my 4 post hoist. The body shop estimate is $300-400, no fiberglass body damage just a finish scrape. The latches that hold the motor cover in place have a couple of broken rivets that hold them to the motor cover. The front and rear hood supports are weak and I have ordered replacements which will be included. The rear motor hatch latches will need a little adjustment as once in a while one side will catch and it requires going inside to the handle and rereleasing the latch. The stereo system is a Blaupunk but someone stole the face plate, until it was stolen the system worked fine. There is some modest repair needed for the defroster duct with the dash cover. Our only reason for selling is that my wife can no long get in and out of the car with her back issues. If you require any additional photos or information you can email mePayment will be made within 7 days of auction end, and will be made with cashiers check or pay pal. If payment is not received than it will go to the next bidder. Shipping is to be arranged and paid for by the buyer and the car needs to be moved within 10 days. This car has a clean Washington title, feel free to run a car fax
