Up for bid is a 1996 Chevy Caprice wagon with just 84k one owner miles. Central New Jersey car - zero body rust and only a few brown spots on the floors - very solid. Loaded up with power everything and every option works, including factory CD. Boasting GM's Corvette inspired multiport injected 5.7L LT1 V8 engine and 4L60E 4 speed automatic transmission, she puts down plenty of power and the 2.93 limited slip rear end (GW9 and G80 build codes) maximize traction to the pavement. Trailer preparation "tow package" equipped - car rated to pull 5000 lbs but never pulled more than a lawn tractor (despite trailer prep name, these did not come from the factory with hitches.) Delivers consistent 16 in town and 24 highway at 70 mph. Clean history - send me your email address and I'll send you the history report. Runs and drives great - drive anywhere. NO RESERVE. Very, very rare - there were only 685 Caprice wagons built for 96, of which 6 were white with red interior and limited slip rear end. Of those, only two had factory CD. Car available for showing in Mt. Pleasant after 6:30 pm weekdays or any time weekends by appointment. Condition Report ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking, missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Newer battery & good charging system. Starts easy and runs strong. TRANSMISSION: Performs beautifully as expected of low miles. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Clean fluid with no burn odors. Shifts perfectly. EXTERIOR: Body: Body is very straight and totally solid. No body rust. The only complaints are two small dings - one on right front fender above wheel, and one on the right rear quarter. Not so much as a door ding anywhere else. Way above average body. Paint: Paint is very nice and shiny and ALL ORIGINAL PAINT. Exceptionally nice for any age; remarkable for 17 years old. Also above average. Other: Beltline trim fake plastic "chrome" is mostly perfect - minor discoloration on right rear quarter piece as seen in pics if you look closely and some lifting on right front fender. I know - very minor - but it's hard to find defects on this car. Plastic bumpers has no cracks or chips. Glass is all perfect - no chips or cracks. Undercarriage is very nice - only a couple small surface spots. Underhood sheet metal, tailgate sill and door jambs have no rust. Spoked hubcaps are in nice shape with a couple curb rashes. INTERIOR: Interior of the car is in great shape as expected of lower miles. Carpets are nice and clean without wear, dash has no cracks, door panels are in great shape. Seats are all nice - even the driver's seat - without rips or stains. Headliner is in great shape. Steering wheel is in nice shape with minor dye wear consistent with low miles. No smoke odors - non-smoker's car. Has all the factory floor mats. Nice interior overall; above average. ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights, button horn, wipers, etc.) ALL the power stuff works properly including power windows, power locks, dual power seats, hot heat and cold A/C, tilt, cruise, am/fm stereo/CD, power antenna, rear window release, rear wiper, intermittent wipers, and rear defroster. DRIVEABILITY: Drives out great! Steering is tight, suspension is tight and alignment is good. Brakes work well - new front linings, newer rotors. Tires have about 70% tread remaining on two matched pairs of Michelins. Solid, quiet exhaust pipes and joint but a couple pinholes in the mufflers (the only part of these exhausts which aren't stainless steel.) Limited slip works properly and rear end is quiet. Check engine light is not lit (except at start up as it should.) No complaints - drives great - jump in an drive anywhere.
