Up for auction is a 1978 cb550k. This bike was purchased from the original owner and has been stroed in a garage since 1985. The bike is in great shape for its age and a true classic. Would make a great resto or a sweet cafe. Have the original title that was issued to the original owner. The condition of the bike is best seen in the pictures. To start, it is all there, even the orignal owner's manual, and pretty much exactly the same as it was in 1978. the paint looks great and should compound up nicely. The inside of the gas tank has surface rust but does not appear to be rusted through anywhere and should clean up easily. All the electrical components work. I hooked a battery up to it and the turn signals, horn, ignition, starter, everything works. Because the tank is rusty in the inside, I did not put gas in it. i did remove the tank and hook up a temporary tank. The carbs are not stuck and do open when the throttle is turned. the choke also functions and is not frozen. However the choke cable plastic mount at the bar is cracked but still functions. I poured gas into the carbs and most of them leaked out of the overflow hoses. So, as expected, the carbs should be cleaned. The motor spins freely both by the electric starter and by the kick starter. The Motor did fire off with the test bottle and leaking carbs. So she shoulb be a very easy fix to get back to running 100%.My gues would be carb clean, new plugs, points and such and your up and running. The bike does have some wear from sitting. Like some pitting and rust on the exhaust and brake lever. also on the engine and exhaust flanges. I believe all of this will easily come off with some brushes and compound. The tires look to be iriginal and so are completely drie rotted. They do hold air so it can be moved. The rear brake functions but the front caliper is seized. Probably just needs to be cleaned and flushed. Bike does roll and can be moved around easily.
