Vehicle Detail

I am selling my 1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche. The car is in great shape, looks and runs beautifully. This car turns heads and I love driving it, but am selling it because I bought another classic and need the garage space. No question that financial times right now are tough, with the stock market being so volatile and investments becoming less valuable, many people are turning to the classic car market to invest their money. Putting your money into a hard asset that you can enjoy everyday is becoming a very popular option, especially now when normal investment returns are lower than they've been in many years. I invite you to put your money into a vehicle that is fun to own, even more fun to drive, and turns heads wherever it goes. The Corniche was Rolls Royce's coupe and convertible version of the Silver Shadow which was produced between 1971 and 1996. The Corniche was named "Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward two door fixed head coupe" (alternatively, drop head coupe) from 1966 until 1971 when the Corniche name was applied. The exterior design was by John Polwhele Blatchley. The car was mildly reworked in the spring of 1977, and while it was not officially called Corniche II until 1988, Corniche’s built between 1977 and 1988 are usually also referred to as such. The major mechanical difference was rack-and-pinion steering. Alloy and rubber bumpers replaced earlier chrome ones. An aluminum radiator was substituted and an oil cooler was added, and a bi-level air conditioning system was added. The Series II was to undergo running changes through its long production run. The changes began with the quiet introduction of the modified rear independent suspension from the soon to be introduced Silver Spirit in March 1979. In March 1981, after the Silver Spirit had gone on sale, the coupe version of the Corniche and its Bentley sister were discontinued. For 1985 there were also cosmetic and interior changes. This particular 1983 Rolls-Royce Corniche has been stored in a climate controlled, storage warehouse designed to house classic cars, just outside of Detroit, Michigan, when not being driven. The paint is in great condition with minimal wear. The same goes for the bumpers and chrome grill. The rims and tires are quite new and in great condition, with about 95% left on the tire tread wear. The beautifully kept black convertible top goes up and down with no problems, and has recently been refitted and dyed and looks great, and the headliner is in pristine condition as this car has never been smoked in.  The doors line up perfectly with the body (as you can see from the pictures), which is an excellent indication of the care given to this car. Inside the car, the red leather hides are in good condition with normal wear.  This vehicle is equipped with every option including dual climate control Air Conditioning, 8 way power seats, power windows and power convertible top. The dark red “Wilton wool” carpets are in great shape with no fading or tears. All of the wood is in good condition throughout the interior. Under the hood boast the Rolls-Royce powerhouse 6.8 liter V8 making plenty of power to move this exquisite motorcar. Attached to the engine is a 4 speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly. This vehicle has traveled on less than 50,000 pampered miles.  The car is still driven when weather permits so actual mileage may vary from when the auction was posted.  The car does need a new passenger side rearview mirror glass, and the power locks on the passenger side door is not working properly, but I have been told this is a quick and easy fix.  I have tried to describe this car to the best of my ability and knowledge, and due to the vintage of the car no warranty is given.  You are welcome to contact me to arrange a showing of the car in person. Inside the glove compartment the vehicle has the original owners manual, and inside the trunk the vehicle retains the original spare, tools and jack. The VIN is SCAZD42A9DCX06663 and is being sold with a clean Michigan title. Buy with confidence, seldom does a Corniche become available to the public in this cosmetic and mechanical condition. In recent months the car has had extensive maintenance and upkeep done to it by a certified Rolls-Royce dealership mechanic.  Below is a list of work that has been perfmormed in order to keep this car running great. Fresh oil twice yearly whether needed or not New EGR valve New O2 sensor New brake lines Air conditioning recharged Convertible top rebuilt and re-dyed Please feel free to contact me at anytime during the duration of the auction with any questions you may have.On Jan-31-13 at 06:00:44 PST, seller added the following information: Update, I was sent an emailing saying that the transmission is a 3 speed, not a 4 speed.  I am not 100% sure whether it is a 3 or 4 speed transmission, so please due your due diligence on this if it is an issue for you.
