Vehicle Detail
This clean southern car was purchased from the 2nd owner in Georgia and it has been maintained and restored to like new condition. The car has had one repaint. The original 27 year old lacquer paint was removed and replaced with modern urethane paint over epoxy and urethane primers. This cars body has no rust issues anywhere, including door bottoms or trunk areas. Photos are included of the usual problem areas to show the condition. When the car was repainted all new weatherstripping was installed both inside and outside the door and window sealing areas, new carpet and a new crystal clear windshield was installed. All new SS decals were installed to put this car in original showroom condition. The original L69 5.0 liter engine was pulled and inspected and rebuilt throughout. The cylinders measured within new specifications so no boring was required and they were prepped and new rings were installed on the factory pistons. The machine shop had a new crankshaft available so it was installed with original size bearings and a new oil pump, so the internal specifications of this engine are exactly like they were when new in 1985. The high performance heads were disassembled and given a professional valve job and rebuild. A mild performance 204/214 @.050 cam was installed that will offer better low end torque performance than the factory cam while being smooth enough that the wife can still drive the car without complaint. The original quadrajet carburetor was rebuilt and all settings and linkages were adjusted to insure trouble free operation and performance, including insuring the throttle and secondary blades rotate to full open, which was often not the case from the factory. New water pump, fuel pump and all new belts and hoses were also installed. As a result this engine starts, runs and performs as new. This car is completely capable and ready for a cross country trip. The 235/60 Goodyear Eagle tires have plenty of tread and the large 1 1/4" front sway bar was improved with polyurethane link bushings resulting in a car that handles extremely flat and impressively in hard cornering. The air conditioning system has been converted to R143 and blew cold last summer, but needs a new compressor now. I think it didn't like the jostling during the engine pull. The car has new tailpipes which should be apparent in the photos. The 4 speed 200R4 transmission shifts firm, solid and at the correct rpms in all ranges. All gauges work correctly including even the clock. The radio is an Alpine AM/FM/CD player that includes IPOD connectivity. The car is only used for pleasure drives now and has been driven less than 1,000 miles since the engine rebuild and paint job and has been garage kept and hasn't seen a rainy day since. The level of detail is what sets this car apart. If you want a trouble free car that will look good and be solid for many years, this is the car.
