1983 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler. 4 Wheel Drive. I have had this for about 5 years, and am ready to sell. As you probably know if you are reading this, that only around 25,000 of these were made. Mileage is "exceeds mechanical limits". It is in very good overall condition with just a couple minor issues. Issue #1, is that the Detroit Locker in the rear end, does not match the ratio that is in the front end. Works fine in the mud and snow, but not on dry pavement. This is only an issue when you have it IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I have the original ring and pinion that is in good working condition that you can have if you want it. Issue #2, is that the transmission makes a growling type noise in REVERSE, that does not affect its functionality. In other words, reverse works fine, but just makes a growling noise. The jeep runs and drives good. The front end is in good condition. The frame is in EXCELLENT condition. The 4 Wheel drive works great. 258 Inline 6 Cylinder Engine rund good and does not smoke. The interior is nice. The floor pans and bed pan are solid, and have been "Rhino Lined" Has a new radiator. Good Battery. All lights work. Has an aftermarket tach, and stereo. TILT Steering. The fuel gauge is the only gauge that does not work, but I have a new float valve you can have if you want it. Brakes work good. Was painted about 4 years ago, and has been shedded ever since. Tires are good with no weatherchecking. Please keep in mind that this is a 29 year old vehicle, so it is NOT perfect.
