Vehicle Detail

1997 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera 2 Cabriolet Arena Red / Black leather interior Engine: 3.6L Flat 6 with Vario-Ram Mileage: 55,500 Location: Santa Monica, California I bought this car in August 2011 and it is my second 993 cab (the first I owned while in London in 2003). This is a beautiful example of a solidly engineered and maintained car. I always saw myself as the privileged caretaker of a fine automobile and have kept it maintained in that spirit. Had I been able to afford the cost of the conversion to RHD ($45k) I would not have hesitated to take it with me to Australia as I've enjoyed every moment of the miles I've driven. Both shops I've taken it to for service have commented on how well it’s been kept and how great it sounds. The modifications are subtle but add to the looks and performance of the car. I personally replaced the chrome wheels with an original set of 17” cup wheels ($1,000) that were (and still are) in perfect condition. In October 2012 the new cab top was installed ($1,400) which of course comes with the added bonus of a perfectly clear rear window. The longer I owned this car the more I appreciated it. The RS Engine Package and the Sports exhaust add an extra 50hp over the standard and a beautiful exhaust note to which I've not heard a better sound from a 993. It is a unique example that anyone would be proud to own and enjoy for a long time. I have included pictures from when it had the chrome wheels but it now has the original cups. this engine was built by a Jeff Hollister who builds Porsche race engines for a living and develops its power over a wide rev range. A joy to drive. This car's engine has excellent punch / torque output and seemingly endless acceleration. The RS lightweight, single mass flywheel and sport clutch packages reduces the rotational mass by about 50% which makes this car build acceleration much quicker while still maintaining excellent everyday city driving character. This car is a extremely fun and reliable daily driver = Pure enjoyment experiences. Recent dyno testing at TurboKraft, Inc. of Mesa, Arizona showed this engine to have higher peek HP/Tq output to that of recent other 3.8L converted engines. The paint exterior and body nearly flawless. Leather sport seats and bolsters / entire interior in excellent shape. All gauges, lighting, electronics and safety systems in perfect working order.
