Last week's Auction came within a whisker of the reserve, So normally you start the no-reseve bidding at the highest bid from previous auction. BUT I will start $150 less that the high bidder last week. I really don't need another project so here is your chance to buy a nice classic W115 with "good bones" to finish or Simply drive "As Is"It's the holidays, it would make a great present and I need the garage space and a little cash for two current restoration projects 1966 beetle and 1984 VW GTI MK1 I am always on the look for decent quality one owner vintage german cars. In this case it is one family owned. She wears the original paint (some touch ups) and the interior is original as well. One crack on the dash at the radio speaker-very common with these 220's and not bad enough for my attention at this time. Everything is in working order inside--all lights, knobs, etc are there. Mechanically she has had a recent tune up and valve adjustment and I had the alternator replaced, radiator recored, new hoses, belts, battery, trans flush and filter. Underneath she has all new tire rods and suspension and new exhaust . New Rear Mounts and Brand new set of tires. I still think she is just a tad too smokey at times and another good diesel purge should do the trick. I purchased this car to be my teenage son's car but we decided on a pick-up for him instead and I have too many projects to complete the restoration. If she doesn't sell this month, I will bite the bullet and restore her to my crazy specifications. I have too much in her to let her go for less than the starting price. I haven't added the invoices but probably have double in her already. For those who like to take her as is-- it is a great driver as is. Some small rust issues to finish and with a professional wet sanding and polish i think the car will really look good. The good:Original paint and interior, etc. Nothing hiddenlimited ownership which i always find most important in classic cars. one-family owned car. Mother to son-in-law.Easy to work onRock solid Mercedes old school buildBeautiful Mercedes Classic styling4 cylinder dielsels are very dependableMechanically solidNew batteryNew TiresNew suspension Items to be addressed:Some rust in the rear wheel area, engine area near firewall, headlight area and minor bubbles in rockers. It is not significant and can easily be repaired. I have already treated the areas and prepped to stop any expansion. The car is stored in a climate controlled garage free of the elements. I would go ahead and repair and spot paint and blend. I would not re-paint the car as the rest is still in great shape and it will only have the original paint once. The Other good or bad--it's how you look at it....Ok, so you will not be robbing any banks in this 4 cylinder diesel. She is slow off the start but cruses quite nicely once she gets to speed. If you need peppy acceleration, DO NOT BUY this vintage mercedes. However, if you want a fun project to complete or just drive as is. (or a great car for a teenager if they can stand no A/C) because they are made of real steel and cant go faster than 80 mph and is 0-60 in.... well its a long time--then this is your car) Im very picky about my vintage cars and while this one is not complete, it is a solid example to enjoy as is or finish for a very nice original mercedes. What we call "good bones." She just needs some TLC. She is nice and straight and actually a fun car to drive. Happy to answer any questions. This is a good price for a classic that has already had considerable money spent. I hope I can find her a happy home. I don't want to scare anyone but i'm a long time collector and Im very honest and picky. A nice original example of a 40 + year old rock solid german engineering. Always beware of a fresh coat of paint! here--what you see is what you get. all original and nothing hidden. check out my more pristine MB's to give you an idea of descriptions.
